Current freebies

One of the greatest bugbears with the freebies forum is that there's no obvious (at least, as far as I can see), quick-and-easy way to know which freebies are actually current and available.
Can anyone think of a way to overcome this? Some kind of new sticky, maybe?
Oh yes, and while I'm on the subject, can anyone tell me if there are any decent offers still open on cosmetics and food?

Well, ok... but that hardly presents you with a quick and convenient 'list' of what is STILL available! No criticism implied; just an observation.0 -
Who moves them, and how does one alert that person/those persons that the offer is no longer open?0

There are so many freebies that a current list would be very long and hard to maintain.
Board guides move the posts over

Any freebies on the freebies board are 'current'. Once people start reporting in the thread the offer is closed, they are moved to the freebies gone but not forgotten board. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I agree with cordial that the freebie forum has got quite hard to look through. I think this is mainly due to repeat posts cluttering it up. Maybe we could learn a lesson from the competition forum. When a repeat post is spotted someone points it out and gives the link to the original post. That way if people follow the link they can see if they thanked it, therefore knowing if they have seen it before. This also gives the credit where it is due to the original poster and will discourage people posting repeats...which then means less clutter to have to trawl though to find a freebie you are interested in. It also points board guides to posts that need merging
This system works really well on the comp forum and makes it much more user friendly, helpful and community spirited forum.:j0 -

I can assure you this is just not true. I can't remember how many times I've seen a 3-day old post on a supposedly 'active' thread to the effect that the offer in question has lapsed.
I repeat: moving a freebie to the 'gone but not forgotten' board does nothing to produce a convenient, one-stop overview of what IS currently available.
Never mind. I can see that this 'list' idea, while desirable, would be quite a difficult thing to get going and maintain.0 -
What a great idea gollum. I agree that this works really well. I hope people will back you on this idea. I certainly will.0
