So I didn't go to the gig, but instead took DD on a girls' night out - to the cinema and out for dinner, paid for by a suprise raffle ticket cash win that paid for it nearly, only a small spend. She was very happy as she chose the film - Puss in Boots 3D and I used a kids eat free voucher at PizzaHut.
Then we popped into the supermarket and spoke to the pharmacist to get OH some cold and flu stuff - because of drugs he takes for MS, it turns out that he can't take certain things, so I was really glad I was able to get to talk to a pharmacist. Also bought DD some children's multivitamins for the first time and thankfully she likes the taste (sadly she now thinks she's a grown up as she sees me taking various tablets every morning, I hate it that she thinks that's part of being a grown up).
I've put her pocket money and church contribution to one side, and hope that tomorrow will be a NSD. Oh and I really hope that I get to give and receive some cuddles from OH.0 -
Yay, NSD no. 5 under my belt
Boo - no trip to see OH, he's still got the 'MS fog' going onBut we've texted and he's reasonably ok.
I'm going to have to be super-frugal going forward: DD is going to be starting guitar lessons from week after next, at a cost of £7/session. Gulp. I will get the money for this, but ouch....Kind of regret taking her to the cinema now as it was over 2 lessons' worth, but we did have a lovely time, so I shouldn't have regrets....
Lunch was lovely leftovers - soup, sandwiches using up yesterday's tuna and sweetcorn mix and dinner......DD decided on veggie sausages and mash with tons of vegetables. Plenty of mash and veg left and a couple of sausages, so hopefully I'll get away with reheating them and maybe adding some baked beans for variety tomorrow night!
DD's sandwiches and cakes made for the week's packups and I've got couscous for 2 days to mix with salad or veggies, so am gunning for more NSD during the week.
Still feeling a bit blue today, and burst into tears at church when talking about OH to some friends, ho hum, good job everyone's nice there.0 -
This week the only spending I'll do is either
a) using Te$co vouchers or
b) using M&S vouchers
so that it doesn't count as real spendingI should have enough petrol for the week, and am hoping to work from home a couple of days this week. I will need to get fruit and salad stuff though so will need to spend something....
OH seems to be on the mend, as he's starting sending saucy textsHoorah!

Today WILL be a NSD I'm sure - as I've worked out that once I pay for DD's guitar lessons, I'll have £80 left for the remainder of the month for food, petrol and general stuff. Thankfully the bills are all accounted for and the car is 3/4 full of petrol.0

Phone bill was £9.61 less than budgeted, so extra put into savings fund
I've changed broadband plans, as when I asked BT if I ever went near my limit and was told that I never even use as much as the lowest and cheapest plan, so I changed that tout de suite, saving me nearly £10/month. I think because I don't play games online or something it helps and whilst I do like watching i-player, and may do so more when we move and I don't have sky+, it's not a huge amount of dowloading.

Hi Kittikins, obviously I don't know your personal circumstances as far as you & your OH are concerned, and how knowledgeable you are as far as disability.
I have never claimed anything, but have recently found out that I could have had my disabled bathroom adaptation VAT free, I can still claim as you have 4 yrs. I was under the misapprehension that you had the be registered disabled, when in fact there is no such thing
As this is several hundreds of pounds it will be very useful, this info about the VAT came direct from the HMRC who were very helpful.
This might be helpful when you get to your forever home.:j0 -
Oh wow, that's interesting about the bathroom.........at the moment we don't yet live together and he is living at his parents, but the hope is that in the future we will get married. I'm waiting for a couple of operations on my leg that will change my mobility for a while, possibly forever, and so if we could get a decent bathroom that would suit him now and me possibly in the future, that would be fab.
I shall do some research, thank you0 -
Well, I've managed a NSD today but not sure how many more I'll do for a little while. I've had to come up to stay at my parents' leaving DD with friends, as my dad has been taken into hospital tonight with a mystery illness. Hopefully it'll be something and nothing but my mum is quite frail so someone needs to be with her overnight and can't drive far, so I'm needed to look after her and hopefully not worry too much about my dad
So, it'll be car parking and petrol, as my parents are about 100 miles away from home. Thank God for good friends who have scooped DD up into their loving arms and will keep her with them as long I need to be away.
OH is still unwell, he tricked me with the saucy texts last night into thinking that he was up and about and firing on all cylinders again.....but in fact he's still "resting", silly goose...0 -
Phew! My dad's funny turn turned out to be far less serious than we were dreading, he needs to take it easy for a couple of days and then should be as right as rain, but it was a bit sad to hear that they've discovered he's had a minor stroke in the past.
I've managed a NSD as we found free parking at the hospital (mum was with us and so her blue badge came out too!) and my lovely parents filled my car up with petrol, so it's been a very cheap day indeed!
Going home tomorrow to see my beloved DD, who is having a whale of a time with her chums0 -
Well, yesterday was a spend day, and with the anticipated trip to Co$tco taking nearly £40 and my budgetting to pay for DD's guitar lessons for the term, it will mean that I have £35.48 left for the month....unless I do something sensible like maybe account for half the lessons this month and half next month. Hmm.....
It doesn't help today that I'm feeling a tad delicate after a bit too much wine last night, and so want to just say s*d it and go and buy myself a treat! However, hopefully a walk to the library and a nice shiny new novel or two will save me from myself
Things are still moving along with the house buying and selling, I managed to ask the relevant people for a couple of missing documents that the solicitors need, so will hopefully have those in the next week or so. The finances still look odd to me, but there's nothing I can do until we exchange, and then we have a couple of weeks to fiddle about with the numbers apparently. Gulp.
My lovely new neighbours who just moved in last week kindly let me have their moving boxes, saved them a trip to the tip and me a request on freegle or £30They're currently sitting in the sitting room taking up far too much space, so I need to co-opt DD after school into helping me carry some upstairs and shove some behind a sofa or something.
