unsure employment status on ppi claim

Options
Hi

really sorry for a question many of you will think obvious but here goes.
I have 2 credit cards (2008 MBNA & Virgin) both with ppi ins on, both cards are still running but I cancelled the insurances in 2010 when I was informed I didn't need to have them.
I must admit I took the insurance because on both occasions the sales person was very pushy and I was virtually told I needed to have it in place.
Both applications were over the phone.

Regarding employment, I was full time employed but I was also registered as self employed. The self employment details were never required as I was fully employed, does this fact make any difference to my claim?
I haven't started yet but feel i should get going on this.

thank you for your help, a very nervous firstimer

You are either told or you are not. it is a black and white thing. No shades of grey here.

Are you talking about a claim or a complaint? A claim is too late now as you cancelled the insurance. You are still within the window to make a complaint though.

Assuming complaint, then having multiple occupations can invalidate PPI as, in your case, you would need to be out of work and have shut the self employed business down. Therefore, making the chance of any unemployment claim unlikely. It wouldnt affect any sickness claim though.

You sound is if you have enough to make a complaint.

  • Thank you for the reply,
again I apologise for my ignorance.
Is there a complaint letter format, what will I need to do next, I am not too good at all this kind of stuff.

So had I carried on paying I would have had a case?

As I had paid over £1800 could I get any compensation?
