Sorry I just missed that bit and was reading quickly.

I would also point out this is not me, hence I can not make a decision to send in sick notes if she does not want to. Yes I agree there has been some wrong, but I now need to save this situation in the best possible way.

The best way to resolve this situation is to send in a letter of resignation and have no further contact.

It's stories like this that give women a bad name in the workplace - going off sick when not really ill, trying to blame the employer because they don't do absolutely everything to help when doing nothing yourself ... and then getting pregnant and being unfit for work all over again.

Would you employ someone that did that?
  • Get her to resign formally. The company should then forward her P45 and any monies she's due shortly afterwards.

My only fear is that they will not do this, she was owed 6 days holiday before she left for sick leave, this was already accrued. Now it stands at -3.5, whilst she was off sick it should have continued ti accrue, but certainly should not have gone below the 6 days already outstanding and accrued.

Thanks for your constructive advice. :T

Do men not do this? Pregnant okay well they can't, but most would if they could.

I do have employees like this, but what can you do "sack" them all, not so easy really these days.

You can't really blame someone for trying their luck with these things, more so when they are in rubbish low paid cleaning jobs.
  • More like "can't-be-arsed-itis"

We will never know the reason, the reason is not the question, I just need the solution.

'Trying their luck'? Perhaps they should try to enhance their employability, rather than taking the mick with those who give them a chance of employment?

    Eh?

Assuming 28 days leave a year for full timers, your 6 days would mean she'd worked (full time) for 2.57 months. If earning £30 a week she can't have been doing more than 5 hours a week. Assuming full timers work 40 hours, she's entitled to 1/8th of the full time leave entitlement. So that would be 3/4s of 5 hours, or £22.50.

That's assuming she took no leave during the time she was working.

She's going to make a great midwife. :rotfl:

  • Well indeed you read another post, she is now doing this and hence will not return to that job.

In response to the other post, you can clearly see from the above she is doing something about the situation by taking further training and taking a new career.

Thanks for all of your help, it is very much appreciated. I will let you know what they offer as soon as they do.

One with a nice generous sickness policy ;)

  • That's true, my father has worked for the NHS for the last... years and has taken about 3 years off in full paid leave due to work related injury.

I think I may also get myself some of that work :-)

    So definitely not sick then.;)

(Thank goodness I'm past the age of childbirth if this is the sort of values that midwives have these days.)
