Sole trader, accounts spreadsheet?

Before you settle on Excel as the 'best' solution, take a look at a few business accounting packages. I use QuickBooks (the Online version, not desktop), and I've also heard really good things about Freeagent (which is designed specifically for people who work for themselves), In fact, I'm thinking of switching to the latter.
Excel is supremely powerful and versatile, but in my opinion that means it's not necessarily the best solution for a sole trader. Accounting packages hide most of the formulas etc from you, while giving you access to lots of handy reports and things (these become more useful as you grow, or if you become VAT registered, etc).0 -
I am using openoffice now and found it is very confusing and strange. I always love to use MS-Excel for my accounting purposes. But now in my office they adopted openoffice which I don't like anymore. So is there any expert of openoffice who can help me to find the basic options... lol0

John, try the Techie Stuff board, but all the basics are more or less identical between the systems, maybe a couple of small syntactical tweaks.0
