Just bought TV license online and it says it expires in 11 months!

What's going on?
I visited family for Christmas and got a new TV. Brought it to my new home today and set it up and - being a law-abiding citizen - thought I'd get online and buy the license.
I went through the process and the license I was issued expires 30/11/2012. HUH?
tried to call them but they're closed for new years' day...
thanks for any advice on this!

TV Licences have been month-end expiring for quite a few years now, in the same way that 'Road Tax' is.
Licences bought in December expire on 30th November.
It is easier for them to manage 25 million TV licences with 12 expiry dates than it is with 365 (or 366).British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Mine was bought today - 1st Jan - so why doesn't it expire 31/12/12?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Well one thing seems for sure, it certainly seems that it is best to buy the license at the beginning of the month. But prehaps not on a Sunday or Public Holiday.
Be interested (well curious) as to why it expires 30/11/12, if bought in Jan.0 -
Ah. Perhaps their systems were slow or need manual rolling over to the new expiry? (which sucks if so).
I know when we got our first TV after moving out into our own house the post office person pointed it out that it was the last day of the month and suggested we should come back tomorrow to by the license so that we didn't get shorted a month.0 -
Don't worry the BBC will be in touch with you, they vill not let you get awayz lol0
