Unfortunately if spoiled it had to go to the bin although we tried to cook what we could, waste I know sorry. It got worse after 5years so I don't know if hotpoint would have kept their 5year parts warranty.

Please don't laugh, my washing is also hotpoint and is playing up and I am on the active washing machine thread asking for help now. I don't know why I always choose hotpoint,I am so inlove with,WHY??? Won their freezer and had to go buy matching fridge to replace their fridge freezer. I also bought their cooker in november.

Yes I know, mental maybe I am.

if your fridgefreezer is same as mine, sorry cant remember the model number, i could feel/ hear the ice when i pushed the inside of the cabinet, i unplug and as the hotpoint engineer did use a hairdryer gently on the affected area,or you could try putting pans of hot water in the cabinet. i takes me quite a few hours but fortunatley not days like duvarayi has to.

i would not be surprised if all three of us had the same modal. where was the ice, inside the cabnet at the back? in the two visits from the hotpoint engineer, they also used portable hair dryers, but did not see where they dried!!

did you put the hot water directly into the freezer then? did it not just simply pour out onto the floor?

trinidadone, yes I keep asking myself if I'm loosing my marbles as well as my mobility.:rotfl:

I think the washing machine can be fixed easily from the advice I'm getting and it's +-9 years old but listen to this, yes I'm looking at another hotpoint to replace it :embarasse

We have a Whirlpool fridge freezer (I think they are a Hotpoint rebrand) and had similar problems with the fridge repeatedly icing up or sometimes not cooling down enough.

I eventually traced the problem to the way the fridge unit (which is sitting on top of the freezer in a built-in kitchen) having been pushed back slightly.

This meant that the front (wooden) door of the fridge section was shutting against the wooden framework of the kitchen unit but leaving the actual fridge door slightly ajar (or, at least, unsealed).

The same problem could just as easily apply to the freezer unit or both.

It is worth checking that the doors on both of your units are sealing properly as opposed to just the decorative doors on the front closing against their frames.

no i put water into pans after taking shelves out. if you gently put pressure on the back panel you should be able to tell if there is ice there

Was the icing inside your fridge freezer? These ones ice is at the back I think, it's not visible when you open the door I only felt it when hand put at the back whereas the one that happens if the door is no closing well is visible when you open the door in mine.

My new fridge did this first week it was delivered although it was also freezing the milk and vege inside. It just needed adjustment of those things under to be level. That's not me trinidadone:D

Had this problem with an old MFI fridge freezer used to ice up behind the insulation so the fan could not blow the cold air around, every time I defrosted the fridge compartment was Ok again for a while.Quickest way I found to defrost was switch off and remove draws and place a fan heater outside in front of the freezer compartment ,then it only took an hour or so to defrost
