Ok basically a bit of back story here before I ask my question.
6-8 years ago my dad bought a sony kep42m1 plasma tv. A month ago a black like about 2 inches long came down the bottom of the tv and basically after having it checked out by a repair guy the tv screen is damaged and it would be to costly to repair.
My dad is basically very attached to this tv however it has been discontinued.
Is there anywhere we could buy it from again, brand new?
If not we were thinking about getting the 'lg 42lk45ou' but however we have noticed that this tv has no on/off switch. Will a tv without an on/off switch cause major problems?
Thanks for replies.

I can't see why it should. It's difficult to believe that a manufacturer would deliberately produce a TV which would cause major problems. I guess you could switch off at the wall if you're worried.
I actually read it on one of the reviews on this television. On the amazon website.0 -
Spend a bit more and get a Panasonic, this one has built in Freeview HD, the LG is Freeview SD:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/panasonic-viera-tx-p42s30b-42-inch-full-hd-1080p-600hz-plasma-tv-with-freeview-hd-1100992
Or £95 dearer at RS or £100 dearer at JL both with a five year guarantee.
Edit 5 year warranty at Amazon £88.49 extra0
