I popped the questions last week, on Christmas Day morning, and (thankfully!) she said "yes".

We are now planning for December 2013 - giving us almost 2 years to save like mad and plan away!
  • I'm getting married in Aug 2013 - Cant wait - Just looking at venues right now and working out budgets - gonna try and DIY lots of things! Got engaged on my 30th birthday in November and am now totally obsessed already! This is normal right?

We're planning on getting married June next year! So excited already! The plan is to have a very small intimate ceremony for just us, my mum, his parents, our brothers and our two little boys in the Lake District (where my Dad's ashes are scattered - just to feel 'close' to him on such a special day) and then have a reception / 30th party for me the next weekend.

Obviously planning to do as much DIY as possible so busy trawling the internet for ideas and squeaking with excitement occasionally!

Looking forward to getting to know you all (and your wedding plans) over the coming months!
    Eeek!

Do you have your venue planned already? I'm from the Lake District so know you have lots of lovely places to choose from.

    Welcome to the thread :j

Hoping to get married on the 26th January...it's getting booked this week and I am soooo excited. Going to be crafting like crazy until next year to help keep costs down.
  • Welcome to the new recruits! Hope everyone's getting on well with their planning. I had a bit of a wobble about our choice of wedding plans around new years, thanks to some negative comments over the festive period, but back on track now. It would be madness to change our plans to suit other people when our venue is perfect for us and we're so excited! I'm going wedding dress shopping with my mum at the end of Feb and I'm really looking forward to it.
  • Hi everybody,
Nice to find other people getting married in 2013 too! We got engaged on New Years Day - we're looking to marry in the summer of 2013. So overwhelmed already by what there is to do! Xxx

    Welcome to the thread :j

Ah you lucky thing! No, not really chosen yet - wanted to aim for around Louthrigg / Ambleside or Windermere I think. You're right, there's so many to chose from. Sent off for a few brochures but will be planning a trip up soon to have a proper look.

    Thank you! :)

I wish it was this year, I practically have everything organised and don't want to wait 18 months lol!

Haha me too! I feel like there's not a great deal to do this year... venue, cars and photographer are booked already, going to buy my dress soon but I can't really do much else now. OH still hasn't finalised his guest list so can't do invites yet. Can't look for BM dresses yet because they'll be 10, 11 & 12 so don't won't know what size to get til much nearer the date.

Just feel a bit like we're at a standstill with it all. Oh well, have an appointment at a bridal shop next Friday so that should cheer me up! Plus they have a mega sale on with up to 75% off :D
