    OUCH

I've just taken off a BS seaweed face msk I thought I should start to use up. It's been open a while and was very thick and hard to spread. It was even harder to get off and has now left my face feeling very uncomfortable. It feels like it's burning up but it's not red or anything.

Have put some vit C oil on and that's soothed it a bit.

Wonder if I should throw the rest of the pot away. There's about 2 more facials worth left though.

Scared of looking in the mirror in the morning now!

Just throw it. It had evidently gone off. It's not worth potentially damaging your skin just to get a :money::A.

kiplingmonkey (wow, you're old enough to have a 10 year old, I always thought that you were an early twenties lovely young thing from your previous posts!)........ wrt your rather *erm* varied stash, is there actually any physical way that you will be able to UU that amount of stuff before it goes off? I seem most people are aiming for 100 UU's a year, at that rate, you're looking at 13+ years. Now, I don't wish to frighten you, more to prompt you to think of ways around this. Everything you have seems quite high end and rather lovely. Soap will last forever so you don't need to start on that but what about the other stuff? I think shower gel lasts forever too so really it's moisturising type objects which are the issue here. How about having a good old sit down and think, can they be gifted to people this year for Birthdays and Christmas presents? That will save a cash outlay and reduce your stash. Alternatively, can you look at selling some of your items? There's ebay or your local facebook selling pages. Alternatively, you could try sticking things on your works intranet?
That is of course, assuming that you do want to get rid of some of it, i do apologise if you want to use it all yourself :o.

No UU's here atm but I'm hoping that DH will open up my face mask lid for me tonight. I tried to use it the other night but couldn't open it.

Right, brutal truth time here (in the nicest way possible, of course :)). Pudsey, honey, you haven't got a hope in hell's chance of using all your lovely toiletries before they go off (unless they are all samples): it's a bit like what Kaz is saying in the quote beneath to kiplingmonkey. I don't mean that to be horrible, but I've had to throw out a few things that have gone off roughly three years-ish after being used: I would weep incredibly bitter tears if I had to throw out tons of luscious toiletries that had gone off.

Perhaps we have to start being horribly honest with ourselves: it's only possible to use so many toiletries in a year (or two, or three, or four!). Would it not be better to give away/sell our evident excess to at least know that they are being used for their original purpose without going off? This weekend is a free listings weekend on Ebay, so perhaps it would be worth listing just a few of our duplicates to make a small dent in the stash...and since they are duplicates, we won't miss them so much, will we?! :rotfl:

Just to point out, it's not Pudsey who has 1326 items, she was expressing sock/surprise/ admiration (maybe? ;) ) at kiplingmonkeys stash total.

LOL, excuse me while I :rotfl:. I don't know whether to be flattered or worried that you think I should have more sense at my age!! I have a friend from school and we are both beauty addicts, bag fiends etc so perhaps we keep each other young (or maybe just deluded that we are still early 20s lovely young things!!).

Good idea about the gifting and (now this is where you all realise what a true anorak I am....) I do colour code my spreadsheet so I know which the oldest items are to be used first. I don't worry about make up as I use a lot of Bare Escentuals and although they put a shelf life on it seems to be fine and I am quite strict about not having lots of products open and in use at the same time to avoid bugs and nasties.

I think part of the problem is hanging on to things even if they don't suit me (mainly lipsticks) so maybe this is the year I just ditch the stuff I am never likely to use up (and add £1 for every item gone to my pot).

  • Last spring I realised I had way too many soaps for a single gal to ever get through. I gave a lot to a local woman's refuge.
I emailed them and they came to collect them from me as they didn't want to give away their location.
If anyone is struggling with the idea of giving away any of their stash, then that may be one way of 'getting rid' of it and doing a 'genuinely' good deed and perhaps feeling they can release it more readily.
I know a lot of us have very nice toiletries that we maybe feel are 'too good' just to give to a charity shop or car boot or eBay or whatever.
    Just a thought.

Kipling - like the spreadsheet idea:):)
On some of my L'occitane mini's there is an expiry date which I make a note of. The Shea Butter Body Lotion that I have just used up had an expiry date of this month! I was using it but it smelt a bit almondy which it usually doesn't so don't know if it was going off! Trying to UU my Olive one quickly now.

Anyway another UU today - Decleor Iris night balm 15ml WIBA? Trying the Angelique one next for a change, but I do love the iris one.

Kipling -would it be cheeky to ask how many kipling bags you have as I know many people collect them? :D:D

Sawan - hello again:wave: I too remember you from last years thread -and your nail pics (which reminds me - I haven't done my nails in months must start using up my nail stash!)

    hello!

have just come across this thread after being vaguely aware of it before. i cannot believe some of the hardcore collections:eek:

i know what others mean about saving the good stuff and then it going off, did that with some dead sea bath salts recently - they are stuck in the pot, but i have been scraping them into the bath lol:rotfl:

toiletries are no different to any other collection...be it food, clothes, shoes, bags etc...i have been known to have two carrier bags full when sainsbugs has their half-price dental sale (altho we are nearly at the end of those now;)).

i also have several handcreams on the go and have just liberated 3 part-used shampoos from my mum's collection.

BUT, i have decided this year to only spend what i need rather than what i want so that all the money saved (or not spent) can pay the mortgage off so that within the next 5 years we can be mortgage-free, can downsize and i will no longer be a slave to work:)

good luck with all your UUs x

Sorry to take the mick, fireside, but this sounds like you must have a LOT of toiletries to be able to repay the mortgage with the money you'll save this year! :D
  • yeah
I've decided to chuck the face mask. Still have a few more to use though!
Do I count it as a UU??
Strictly speaking I haven't used it up. In fact, it's the opposite.

    Hi all,
One more UU for me: Garnier soft essentials face wipes. WIBA? Possibly in the future, I love the rose smell of them, but they are a little pricey when a packet a quarter of the price does the same job. :(

Hope everyone has had a good day.
