Barclaycard Credit Limits

My limit has not changed. As an earlier poster said it has not gone up either but I am glad about that. I always pay the full amount each month.0

Mines been lowered from 5000 to 4140 recently and last week the cash advance facility was taken away from me!0

I was shocked after getting my last statement they have increased my limit from £1900 to £2900. I would never be able to afford minimum repayments on this if I was silly enough to use it.
Its the first increase in the few years I have had it though.0 -
My Barclaycard has been dropped from £2850 to £400!!! Mind you I have spent the last 7 months trying to get £2000 back on a bad purchase I did last year. After many letters to and frow to Barclaycard and them refusing to do a refund I got a letter out of the blue at the end of January informing me they had done the refund and then the next day got the letter informing me of the reduction in credit limit !!! I was starting to think it was soooooo coincidental getting the refund & then the credit limit reduction but after seeing the posts above I'm slightly less synical about it now.:p0

I have 2 cards one was lowered from £7500 to £6000 and cash advance removed as I owe over 50% of my limit
My other was only £1k and is now £800.
Exposure to financial risk is the reason0 -

Amex cut my limits by £9000 in September 2006.
Barclaycard cut my limits by £6800 in October 2006
Citibank cut my limit by £1800 in January 2007
Morgan Stanley cut my limit by £500 in January 2007
Nationwide cut my limit by £3000 in January 2007.
There was a MASSIVE thread about the Amex cuts last year in this link.

I today logged onto my barclaycard account to find my limit has been cut from £2,000 to £650, when I phoned them they said they had done a credit check and it was something on there.
I am so annoyed, I have had a barclaycard for years and it started at £1500 and they would never increase it.......until about 3 months ago when they finally upped it by £500 (whhoooppi do !) then snatched it away again today without any prior notice - they say a letter is in the post but it doesn't help my cause.
We are due to get married in July and we had budgeted around the available limits on the credit cards and savings to avoid taking a loan, initially, we then got to a point where we thought a loan would be more practical and less interest but have been getting declined as they won't take my partners income into account as his name isn't on the mortgage yet (can't change that until August or am faced with a £4k cancellation fee from the lovely Coventry Building Society).
Looks like the wedding will be cancelled if the other credit card companies reduce the limits - I never realised this was part of the terms and conditions -just goes to show they can change the goal posts as often as their call centre staff !!!!!!!!!!!

Credit Check and Barclaycard, that makes me laugh. Wonder how they explained giving me a £20K Limit many many years ago when I was only earning £18K a year top line!Cheers
