Can you still downgrade your call package to a cheaper one ?
Options
If I remember correctly you used to be able to downgrade your call bundle package to the cheapest bundle package shortly after signing a new contract, and thus save money while still getting the handset you wanted !
Can this still be done, and if so on which networks ?
TIA,
Mark.

Not 'shortly after signing up' no. They haven't let you do that for a long time.
On some networks it at the half way point of the contract on others its only in the last month.0 -
orange let you do it half way through i downgraded in the 9th month but you can only do it once
none of them let you do it straight away afaikWhat goes around-comes around0 -

Thanks for your reply.
Oh OK..any idea which networks still let you switch to a cheaper tariff half way through a contract ?

O2 used to allow this a year ago, but beware it's the next cheaper tariff, not the lowest one, at both Orange and O2.0

sorry thats what i meant you can only downgrade one tariff below your own on orange anyway and thats halfway throughWhat goes around-comes around0

I thought with this orange best plan you could change your tariff every 6 months?0

Best Plan is not offered with every deal. Three don't allow downward migrations within the minimum term. Vodafone certainly don't either.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

They don;t offer it any more, due to others a long long time ago, realisng thewy could save mney by doing so, and at a stoke ending a usefal back-stop to those who genuinely needed to conserve their cash because of a change of circumstances.
So, with zero flexibility in tariffs within the miunimum contract period, taking out a contract is no longer a sensible option for many, and the networks are seeing this already.0
