  • They are also playing Knowsley Hall Music Festival (it's near Prescot I think) on 23rd June. Not much info available yet on this but I think tickets might go on sale on Monday 12th Feb. If I find out any more I will post it here.
  • ROCK legends The Who are returning to Merseyside to headline the region’s biggest ever outdoor concert.

They will headline the Knowsley Hall Music Festival along with Keane, The Coral and The View.

The two outdoor festivals will take place over a weekend in June with the aim of attracting 40,000 people each night.

The second night’s headline act is Keane.

The event is being co-produced by Cream and festival management firm Loud Sound, which already organises Creamfields and the Isle of White’s Bestival.

The 30-strong line-up was described by Cream’s James Barton, as “on a par with the best festivals in Britain”.

He said: “I’m going to be absolutely jumping out of my skin when The Who walk out on to that stage.

“We have been planning this for around a year and we’ve had to co-ordinate with European and national tour dates.

“The event will bring something to Merseyside which a lot of other cities take for granted and it is about time.”

The concerts will take place in the grounds of Knowsley Hall on June 23 and 24 and are expected to attract more than 40,000 people on each night.

Jim King, MD of Loud Sound, said: “Getting The Who to take part is a real coup.

“I know they are really excited about coming back to Liverpool and they had a tremendous time at the Summer Pops last year.

“The Coral are an amazing local band and The View are by far the most exciting new band in the country.

“We are also really proud of the Sunday line-up, headlined by Keane, and we think we have put together the perfect balance.”

Mr Barton added: “It seems to me bizarre that with all the great musical talent which comes from Liverpool that a festival like this, a celebration of our heritage has not been staged before.”

The Who were a force to be reckoned with. However I heard some excerpts from a recent live event and they sounded like a band past their best. Sometimes the memory is better than the reality. However, I'd still go and see them if I was a fan.
    Happy chappy

Past their best?? You can see pensioners sadly reliving past glories any Friday night down at the local legion for a couple of quid.
Just because you used to be you think everybody else is, don't you?
  • While I would like to go, I don't think the words "money" "saving" and "expert" fit this tour.
    More like money grabbing ba******
    ticket £50
    service charge £7.45
    fan club membership £33
stamp and envelope (not even special delivery) £2.75
    Total £93.20

    PRICELESS
OK so Madonna charged a hundred quid for the same seat but Kylie only charged 45. This is outrageous and even if I was a HUGE fan I would not pay it.

And this is for the totally useless wembley arena

I suggest this thread is moved to the pub. It is not a grabbit AT ALL.
I think I'll pick up my guitar and play (see guitar for £45 thread) cos I won't get fooled again ! :-)
  • Whoo are you, who, who, are yooUUU!!!!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
