Newgirly's January challenge

SO for January I am setting myself 5 tasks:
- Pay £817 off the 0% cc
- Earn £167 (1 /12th of my £2012 target)
- Stick to a £5 a day grocery budget (5, 1 dog, 2 cats)
- Lose 7 lbs
- Only drink alcohol once a week
So far I am still managing to work towards the other challenges, and have managed to do no.2 already, so far earning £202 this month which I am very pleased with.
However I am wishing I had allowed for alcohol more than once a week.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Oh shame on the tax bill!
well done on the other targets tho well done on over £200 earned and only 10 days in!!
You have inspired me to review mine...
For January I would like to
1) Lose 7lb...this one is not going anywhere very fast- have steadfastly stayed the same for the last 2 weeks - I start off trying to be healthy and finish the day invariably with chocolate.... am struggling with this one as this was also my resolution last year and my wt has gone up a few lb rather than down! any tips welcome!
2) Exercise at least twice a week -done! 3 times last week, tonight will be 2nd time this week - feeling much better for it !
3)Take a pack lunch into work everyday-done
4)Give up alcohol -done so far , actually not as bad as Id imagined!
5)get grocery spends in at £150 and have cleared out the freezer ready to defrost! -slight overspend but lots in cupboards - am sticking to no more shopping and getting the freezer cleared!
Ok so 4 out of 5 isnt bad I guess! need to get focused on eating healthy and getting that extra stone off ready for summer holidays and spring when I need to stop covering up in huge wooly clothes!!:eek:0 -
You are doing really well tyo, I have done ok with the extra earnings and lost a few lb's as well although dh ordered takeout pizza last night which I ate sooo much of i'm probably heavier than when I started.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

So, close to the end of the month here is my round up so far:
SO for January I am setting myself 5 tasks:- Pay £817 off the 0% cc...........failure.
- Earn £167 (1 /12th of my £2012 target).........success
- Stick to a £5 a day grocery budget (5, 1 dog, 2 cats)...fail:(
- Lose 7 lbs............not total fail, 3 lb lost:(
- Only drink alcohol once a week............twice a week more like!
Not a roaring success I think you will agree! The oping has been scuppered by a large tax bill and then we bought a new car. The grocery challenge is a fail, however I still spent less than usual so a small success there I think.;)
Failing on the drinking also helps me fail on the weight loss probably, I think the end result is could do much better.:rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 - Pay £817 off the 0% cc...........failure.

Hey newgirly!
Just wrote a reply and lost it! grrr
so the long and short of it was.... well done on at least partly achieved goals- much better than just staying still!!
I always find my intention is much better than my success rate in reality! :rotfl:
Will come back at the weekend to report on mine in the hope that afew lb have magically dissapeared!!0 -
I have decided to set myself some mini challenges for each month during 2012, its easy to get a bit stuck in a rut and I often spend more time thinking or writing about the things I want to achieve than actually doing them.
SO for January I am setting myself 5 tasks:- Pay £817 off the 0% cc.........fail £32.68
- Earn £167 (1 /12th of my £2012 target).....success! £350.42
- Stick to a £5 a day grocery budget (5, 1 dog, 2 cats)...about £8.50 per day
- Lose 7 lbs..........0 lb
- Only drink alcohol once a week .....twice a week
I did manage to lose a few lb's but have put them back on this lasy week, useless! The finances took a battering as we traded the car in for a bigger one which was rather spur of the moment, and cost just over £1500 extra.
I hope everyone else managed to do better than me, I guess that would'nt be too hard.:rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
