Meant to add well done macgirl! Well done with everything you have done so far.Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm...As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others.;)0 -
Been there! :cool:pavlovs_dog wrote: »worse still is being beaten by the 70 year olds :eek:Our bills aren't too high but our boiler is terribly inefficient and desperately needs relocating so I'm currently saving for one. Oooh Cath, sincerely hope it won't cost £3k. We have lovely fancy-dancy rad covers, but beneath lurk jurassic radiators. I feel this could open an expensive can of worms...
Wow, so many posts - thank you for your kind words everyone!
Hiya Jellie and Wantabetterlife - nice to see you again :hello:
Welcome Savvymummy and George's Mum and thanks OM for helping out
Well, first day back went surprisingly well - it was a feelgood day for various reasons, which was a welcome return. That's despite the fact that I barely slept the night before.
DD1 woke for a drink, DD2 woke as she had "knits & needles" in her hand :rotfl: Then the howling winds, lashing rain, thoughts of work and all things MSE kept me awake till 5am. Getting up was tough...
Not an NSD sadly, so spends were as follows:- £1.05 - breakfast - this is a catch up with colleagues that I'd rather not do without, however I can make sure it;s no more than 60p and will do in future.
- £0.38 - promised the kids a treat when I collected them from AS club. Cross with myself that I didn't bring one from home but managed to get Xmas choc on sale @ 19p :money:
- £6.29 - when I wake in the night I have my ipod touch and got a recommendation from amazon for another jillian michaels dvd and succumbed. In my defence it is the toning yin to the cardio yangI'm currently doing - and cheaper than a gym membership
(still probably could have done without it so could do better) - £50.03 - Diesel. The tank is now 3/4 full so hope this will last until the end of next Thursday. Am trying to drive more conservatively in order to save fuel
Brought lunch and dragged myself to running club last night for a solid 7 miler, so exercise is on target too :A
Woke at 3am and haven't slept since. My head is buzzing - in a good way - about all of this and something I'm considering at work.
Hope everyone's well and doing ok, will catch up with everyone's diaries tonight.
Have a good day all

Sounds like a great first day back
, and like you've caught the MFW bug, it is really addictive and gets under your skin.
What do you think of the other gillian michael dvds? I only have the shred and the 6 week 6 pack (which is really hard, I pulled a muscle quite badly with it and been scared every since ! Luckily I am pregnant I have the perfect excuse to not buy/do any more of her routines for a while :rotfl:!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.200 -
Hi MW, yes I've been bitten big time! Yesterday I had to throw out some chicken that was a day out of date, because I was so bothered about finding the cheapest pack - I forgot to check the date! I normally buy organic chicken, so it was a fiver wasted!!!
I liked Shred (not that I didn't curse every time I did it) as I saw a change in my body and fitness levels and it defo helped my running. I've done Burn Fat Boost Metabolism once on Monday and walked like John Wayne all day Tuesday :rotfl:
Then I went out with my running club on Tuesday night, so REALLY felt it yesterday!
Tomorrow I'll do BFBM again.
Had a NSD yesterday, but today I had to go into town (occupational hazard) and bought some Christmas cards, wrap and kids birthday cards in the sale. I had planned this as the girls always have parties to go to, so every penny (and time) saved....
End of the working week today, so tomorrow I will ring to increase the monthly OP and do a proper update.0 -
Found you! Gotta post and run but will catch up later xOne step at a time

Hi Hopeful! :hello: Hope all's well with you x
Well what a productive morning! Took my DD2 to the doctors this morning. Since starting school she has complained of sensitivity to noise, she always hated fireworks and other loud noises and also the change in pitch and volume when travelling on the motorway. I took her last year and my GP said to get her ears tested - which were fine - and it nothing came of it we could refer her. The GP said it's common but usually amounts to nothing, so we struggled on.
I don't want to go on about it too much, but we've had a breakthrough today after years of thinking she was just a bad sleeper, that perhaps she's had this problem all her life and I feel both relieved that we're getting somewhere and guilty that I didn't do something earlier....But things are moving forward so that's really good.
Then the plumber came to look at the boiler. We don't need a new one :j but there is a problem which can be fixed next week for about £150 - so MASSIVE relief there. He said that should explain the high bills.
THEN, I got a call from the fuel company. They wrote to us yesterday to say they were increasing our DD to £195 PER MONTH!!!:eek::eek:
I was furious and phoned them straight away. The guy on the phone was really helpful and said they'd investigate and call me this morning. He did, and said they think we have a faulty meter (I kept quiet about the boiler ) so they are going to have another fitted along side to measure usuage, then credit us back anything that we have been wrongly billed for. Either way, I feel it has been sorted out and even if we don't get a refund (as unbeknown to us the boiler had been faulty for a long time) at least we won't be eating gas like we currently are (£220 in the last 5 days......scary)
So glad all that is sorted. No DVD this morning as I was awake a lot in the night, but just off for a little jog with DD1 who has an inset day.
Hope you all have a good day

Goodness MacGirl, you must have fallen on the floor when they sai £195 a month - just reading it was enough for me. Hope all goes well on the fuel front.
Enjoy the jog, it's certainy a glorious day and it's lovely hearing the birds.

Today I have spent:
£5.71 in the bakers
£21.97 on running gear for DD and a headband for me as my ears get cold on night runs.
Friday is the only day I collect the girls from school so it is treat day, so I expect to spend another £1 on sweets
Tonight I am going to go through the finances and work out next weeks menu, then in the morning I am going to ring the bank to up the op's.
It will be by £100pm making the regular monthly op £232. I need to double check with DH, as numbers are never my strong point so I don't want to mess it up!
