On talktalk for phone & line rental - broadband options?

Could someone please confirm the options for a brand new broadband user who has a talktalk line rental & calls package. Are they restricted to the talktalk broadband offer unless they move away from talktalk altogether?
Sorry if a stupid question but I'm confused by what "BT line required" means on many ISPs offers. Is that literally line rental paid to BT

i should think you can use any ISP, since TalkTalk use BT wholesale's services for the phones...0
