Well a good day on the debt busting front, another £70 paid off the dreaded cards today and just realised that I am now at over 10% of my target of £5000 to be paid to debts this year, hopefully if I can keep it up I will be able to increase my target above the £5000 but we will wait and see no point in trying to run before I walk.;)

Having a treat of an indian meal tonight with my sister not very extravagant it was just the £6.99 meal for 2 from Morrisons chiller cabinet, but a treat for both of us none the less.:)

OH has had is Christmas bonus and overtime all paid out now so I have a four hundred pounds to put towards various things, I think that I will pay an extra £100 on top of my normal overpayments and minimum payments to the Barclaycard that was once an egg card.
I have been chipping away at this card since March of last year, about the same time as the penny dropped that I was getting into a bit of trouble with the cc, having just checked it started off last year with a balance of £3300.00 and it is now at £1700.00, so if I pay some extra this month on top of the normal the I can get the balance below the magcal £1500.00:T

I also plan to put £100.00 of it into my car maintenence fund.
My intention this year is to put enough aside to cover, Car Insurance, Road tax, Mot and general servicing so that when these come up they can be paid in a lump sum and not as monthly DD or put on the cc so this extra £100 will help there.

Once the Insurance is Paid then I will divert the money that I currently pay monthly to this account so that it is always building up for the next thing.

Not sure yet what to do with the rest it is rare that I have this much available to do with what I wish so will have a think about it.

Sorry just read back and it is a very long post so well done if you got this far :rotfl::rotfl:

Have not been on for a couple of days between one thing and another.

Changed my phone and broadband package and have saved myself £25.00 a month which will be put towards a cc.

SPent today getting the outside of the house as tidy as possible after the storms of last week so a no spend day today.
The damage not as bad as we first thought thankfully will be able to use most of the original fence will just have to by new fence posts as these have snapped at the ground level.

Did a roast chicken dinner tonight and theres enough left over for sweet and sour tommorrow plus a soup from the stock.

Thats about it for the moment:)

A good day today, I have paid £140.00 of fthe credits cards this morning also put £100 away for the car maintainence and a further £50 to our general savings so that I can build a little pot up in case of an emergency.:j

Got a letter in today saying I had been pre-approved for a cc with 0% balance transfer for 12 months so I applied and have got a credit limit of £2000, so I will be transfering most of my Santander card over to that as the interest on it is crippling, once the card comes through I will set up a standing order to pay it every month at £167.00 so that it will be paid off in full before the 0% is up.:T

Really pleased with this as I am paying nearly £40 in interest a month with a minimum payment of £71.00 so more has been going to the interest than anything else:mad:

Well thats all I can think of for now,

Feel like I am finally getting in control of things.

  • Well done! You're doing so well on your debt-busting mission!!

I gave up smoking last November, and I can really see the difference it makes to my bank balance! I also used to buy other rubbish when I went to the shop to buy my ciggies, like sweets/magazines/wine!! so it ended up costing me well over £7 a day!

I hope you carry on being so motivated, you'll get there in no time! Yay!

How are you finding the no smoking, I found it much easier than I thought it would be.

I think it just must be the right time to do it.:)

  • Well I had tried and failed about 3 times before, and this time I really meant it. I signed up to a no smoking forum for inspiration. I also did loads of research on addiction, and realised that I didn't smoke because I wanted to, it was because I had to! Quite scary!

Plus, the price was ridiculous! I was spending something like £40 a week on them!

Yeah you're right, it was definitely the right time..!

    Hi

Yes you are right it really does all help even the little £1.00 extra payments here and there.

Realy am feeling positive at the moment about everything, just hope nothing blows up or needs fixed until I have a little emergency fund put aside, I can't bear the thought of having to use a credit card for anything like that.:)

OMG Can't believe it is nearly a month since I last updated my diary :o, really have to get my act together on this.

Well since I last updated I have managed to transfer over £5000 of cc debt on to 0% interest cards, I have cancelled the original cards that had the debt so there is no temptation to spend on them.

Just by doing this I am saving myseld nearly £80.00 a month in interest payents.

It really makes me mad when I think about how much I must have paid out in interest over the years.

Another good thing is I have been putting money aside so that when the car needs insurance and MOT I have it as a lump sum rather than having to pay monthly or put it on the cc.

Have also been picking up lots of bargains in the reduced section of the supermarket so saving some money on the food bill each month.

All in all I feel very positive at the moment.

I will try and update a bit more regularly.:o
