Hi, just wanted to say congratulations on taking control of your finances and especially on giving up the fags. Wow, £5000 a year!! That's an incentive if ever there was one! Are you feeling healthier too, now you're not smoking?

    Hi Happy now
Yes I am determined to never go back on to the fags, I am just so angry with myself for all the money That we have wasted over the years on them:mad::mad:

Just dropping by to say hi and really well done with the smoking, the challenges, the surveys!! Everything really , you seem so motivated which is great . I have subscribed to your diary as we are both starting out at a similar time .

I also had to use the children's savings to pay off some debts, not the tax bill , (I still owe that one ), but it doesn't sit easy with me. I am determined though that one day I will pay it all back !

Good luck and I will be dropping in from time to time to check on your progress x

Hi and thank you for subscribing, don't beat yourself up about using the money, my way of looking at it is that I am sorting myself out now and my children will benefit from that much more than they would with saving in their bank accounts but no roof over their heads.:)

:) Well today has been a day and half, woke up in the night with storm force winds here, have some damage roof tiles off, fences down that kind of thing, not really enough to claim the insurance as by the time I take into account the excess and then the fact that I will pay higher premiums in future years, I will be as well just paying it myself so will have to get some money put by to get the fencing etc sorted out in the spring.

On a debt busting note I have made some progress I have challenged myself to pay off at least £5000 of debt this year ( not including mortgage payments) and with a payment that went out today so far my total stands at £468.67 so not a bad start, lets hope I can keep it up:p

Lets hope that is the last of the stormy weather, this was the 4th week in a row that we have had gales, with one lot of fence blown down at the beginning of last month and the rest went today.:(

Just getting ready to pop out now to pick up a few things and pay a bill that should really have been paid before Christmas :o

Think I am going to do a big pot of soup today just can't decide what type, think it might be potato and leek.

Will be back on later to update my totals once i have paid my bill and had a look at the bank acount.:)

Yep totally agree with everything you have said. Last year I was joking around to the children that as they loved Camping so much they may end up living in the tent at the bottom of Nannys garden ( think I was in a round about way preparing them for the worst !) I know now that is very very unlikely to happen, but last year I wasnt so positive !

Sorry you have damage from these winds. they are terrible arent they ? We are lucky in that we only have had a few things blown around the garden, but it has been keeping me awake these last few nights which I could do without.

Hope the soup is yummy ! I love Leek and Potato !

    Have a good day x

Well back from town and totally soaked but at least I have paid the bill now,

The bill was to a local firm who fixed our storage heaters, I would normally just of paid it with the credit card as soon as it came in but this time I phone them up and said that I was a bit short and would they mind if I paid it a couple of weeks late, they said yes, so the bill was paid in full today, nothing was added to my cc and I feel well chuffed about it all.:A

Had to pick up a few things at the supermarket and treated the kids to chicken bites and wedges for lunch from the hot chicken counter, cheaper than KFC and they loved it so worth spending a few pounds.:D

Right need to go and make the soup for dinner now.

Well done for paying the bill in that way! It really helps that the company were understanding, what a difference that has made!

Hope soup turns out well, nothing nicer when the weather's rubbish!

Well today has turned out pretty good all in all, got the bill paid, got the soup made and even managed an overpayment of £20.00 to one of the cc.

Just been checking and realised I had enough points with my survey for a £5.00 Amazon voucher so thats the Christmas savings started for this year .

Blowing a gale here again really hoping that nothing else falls down, blows off or flies away tonight, I feel like I have spent weeks sorting out the mess after every weekly storm, the joys of living where I do.

Kids still off school here, they don't start back till Monday so it will be a few more days of keeping them entertained without spending any more money.

Thanks to everyone who has been keeping up with my diary I do try and read eveyones but I keep getting sidetracked everytime I come on with all the amazing and inspirational stories that people have.

Today has been a good day.

    Money

Paid another £10.00 off debts today
Had a no spend day (by this I mean no spending at the shops)
£4.58 in Amazon voucher from top cashback
OH Overtime was more than expected and a little bonus too:j

    General

    Cooked everything from scratch today
    Feeling really positive in general
Nothing had blown off, fallen down or flown away in last nights gale

    Stuff to do

Need to work out a meal plan for next week then go shopping.
Sort out all money now that overtime is in and pay some to cc and some into the car maintenence and saving to get fences fixed funds.
Do more surveys instead of putting it off.

Really good day in general kids behaved, OH not too annoying:rotfl:a little more money than expected and I didn't burn the toad in the hole we had for dinner.

Need to sit down tonight and see how much money will be getting put into various accounts to cover everything.
