This is what I got back from them " I have been sent The tecnicans report on Your Sealy mattress , The report states the settlement of the mattress is way below the Tolerance allowed on the mattress , and is Not faulty at all , He has told Sealy that the Mattress does not need to be exchanged ". I thinking of making video and post it on youTube. People need to know what to expect from a Sealy standard. Pity that I can't post a picture here, but I'm definitely not going to let this matter rest.

IKEA mattress are good. The only draw back is that they are not standard UK size. 2 IKEA foam mattresses (one cheap, one top of the range) stag one on top of another is still far more comfortable than this Sealy one, and far cheaper.
  • Hi all, I ve just joined this thread and it might be too late but there are a few good pocket sprung and latex mattresses in the market with deep layers of latex foam on top. 2 sided mattresses are quite difficult to find and also more expensive but you can take a look at this website only-mattresses.co.uk, they do retail 1500 pocket springs mattresses with 50mm deep top layer of latex. Hope it helps and that you will find what you are looking for.

    Hi guys,

Well i am back looking for a new mattress, the yanis mattress i purchased in Oct 2010, just is not cutting it anymore, my back is killing me. I have never felt that comfy on it but it was acceptable. I have emailed them regarding the 10 yr warranty no reply as yet though it has not been very long yet.

So i need a double mattress pocket spring for definite, not sure whether to go latex again or just the springs, i get a bad lower back and sometime my shoulders too.

Does this mean unsupported, too firm, too soft ? not sure to be honest.

So if anyone can recommend me a nice mattress i want quite a thick one as i have an ottoman bed, coming tues from homebase, knowing my luck it will be a disaster! they tend to be lower so i think a nice thick mattress would be great. Do we need a separate topper too? is this something people recommend we have? I have read quite a bit on the factory beds direct website and they do, no clue apart from yanis who sells them though. i cannot abide memory foam i fry with it, when i stay at friends houses and they have memory foam i know i won't sleep much!

After the yanis one, which to be honest i felt like the 1000 springs just was not enough right from the beginning, the site states its 1000 in a kingsize 200cm mattress so this must make the double 190 about 800 instead? I was kinda stuck with it because they let me return the full latex previous 2 i had tried 1st one too firm, 2nd one still not right so went for pocket spring latex top. looking at the site now they have a 1700 i would probably try if offered but they do not look that much different and after my experience i am a bit reluctant and feel i should go elsewhere.

I realise i probably sound really fussy, i am not usually this bad! for some reason i have no luck with beds & mattresses! Please help!

    thanks

    Ally :)

I would say that if you're suffering from lower back pain and shoulder pain, then the mattress you currently have its too firm. It's not supporting your back correctly and therefore the muscle in the lower back are having to "hold" you back in position all night. The mattress isn't allowing you back to relax like it would if it was being supported correctly.

Likewise with your shoulders, the mattress is "pushing" back onto your shoulders too much when you lie on your side.

There is a massive difference between a supportive mattress and ones that's firm! Firm mattresses don't support the body correctly, unless you are a very large person.

Looking on the Yanis site, the mattress are quite cheap, so therefore I wouldn't say particularly that good a quality. Especially as they have the over head of allowing a trail period.

Why do you want latex? It's the dearest filling on the market.

A good well made pocket sprung mattress would do the job.

But with 1000's to choose from it is very hard to find the right one I know.
