hi, i am also look at a latex pocket sprung mattress, i fancy a new ottoman bed, also looking at them if anyone can beat £199 from argos for a double let me know ;) anyway back to the mattress, i spotted a Velda latex dreamer, its £479 for a double and its latex on both sides, just checked and the king is 549, so definitely cheaper, only thing im not sure about is it mentions foam encapsulated springs, i dont know if this makes a difference or not? http://www.thenestcompany.co.uk/products/Velda-Latex-Dreamer-Mattress.html

By ottoman bed do you mean the one where the slats.mattress lift up and you store stuff underneath? Don't do it-at least not with the argos one! I bought one of those for spare room, it was carp and promptly went back!! The foot of the headboard was poorly finished(as in material was incomplete) The base of the bed which things are stored upon is simply a brown hessian type material that is attached by velcro with holes pre made for the' screw on' feet to go through(which don't line up with the holes in the bed base)
The only good thing I can say about it is that the actual lifting mechanism for the matress/slats was very smooth and effortless
    otherwise a waste of time.

I didn't buy mine from Argos, but it is similar. It's still good for storage, BUT it is noisy.

I don't think there should be a problem with foam encapsulated springs, however the latex layer doesn't appear to be that deep and my understanding is that really you don't need a turnable latex mattress(latex both sides) and that generally to have a decent layer of latex each side would be cost prohibitive.
It just doesn't look that substantial for the money tbh.

I bought mine from these guys http://www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk/mattress-sho/double-mattresses/origins-pocket-latex-1500-double1/

albeit the one I have is from a different manufacturer to the one now shown.

yes it is from argos the hygena othello black faux leather, all the reviews on site seem to suggest it is good though. ottoman beds are noisy are they? hmm just really need the space lol have to decide whether i can deal with the noise or not then.

the bed i currently have has broken slats and a metal bar down the middle so im not 100% sure i need a new mattress figured i would start with the bed then mattress after if need be. my mattress is from yanis mattresses pocket latex 1000, like i say hard to know which is at fault but given the state of the bed i am going to start there first, my back and shoulders are so sore, i spend all night tossing and turning, cannot be good.

that site is very good but like you say limited choice on the latex front at the moment, have to say looking at the Velda i think it looks pretty good. was never convinced by the fuss people were making over La Romantica, it seemed mostly driven by a person selling them imo.

I would personally go for a one sided latex model, but one that had nearer 2 inches of Latex. 25mm of latex each side isn't really going to do a lot.

AllyBeee as you also have pocket spring with latex top. What do you think of my reply #11 ? I don't think it is normal for a less than six months old mattress. What do you think ?

i agree, especially when it cost £700! take it the customer service is awful and they are doing nothing?? surely it has a 1 yr warranty at the very least though?

yeah i guess so, back to the drawing board then if the velda isnt good enough. still tempted by the ottoman bed though, seriously lacking space in my wardrobe and i am always buying new stuff!
