Tripled is not only loyal as you put it but factually correct.
Applying your 'reasoning'(I use the term loosely) the water supply companies should be able to supply us water for nothing - as they pay nothing for water.
BG have made a step in the right direction and reduced prices by a substantial percentage - and yet the same old invective is poured on the company.0 -
I never commented on whether or not BG has passed the full cuts on, I simply stated that your reasoning is incorrect and suggested a better way of making the comparisons. I don't know whether or not BG cut prices as much as they could have done, they probably haven't, but as you seem so obsessed by it why not go and do some research and then come back with a factual, well reasoned argument?0

I heard that they haven`t passed it all on, they are waiting to see the reactive price cuts from other companies and assesing the situation again, possibly in September.:money:0 -

Perhaps what you heard was based on something similar?0 -
masonic wrote:I saw some very shoddy assertion on the BBC news website that because wholesale prices have been reduced by 50%, that should have resulted in a 50% reduction in cost to the customer. However, as tripled quite rightly said, and I quote, "Less than half the price consumers pay for gas is actually for the gas...", so the idea that a 50% reduction was even feasible should be absurd to anyone who gives the subject more than a moments thought.
Perhaps what you heard was based on something similar?
Lets just say it came from a source who I wouldn`t normally believe but he has been pretty accurate this week.:money:0 -
Yup, your tips were spot on0

If only my local would cut the beer prices by 17%... it would save me a damn sight more than energy prices lol. Get your source to work on that!0

THIS IS WHAT I GOT FROM EMAIL TODAY (CURRENTLY I AM NOT WITH BG)
Good news - our prices are falling, on average by £160
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
Today we are the first major energy supplier in the UK to announce a reduction in our tariffs for residential gas and electricity customers.
From 12th March 2007 we will cut our standard tariffs for:
- gas by 17%
- electricity by 11%
Enjoy our falling prices
If you're a British Gas customer on our standard tariffs you don't need to do a thing, but enjoy our falling prices. We'll automatically update your account for you so there's no need to reply to this email or pick up a phone. We'll handle everything for you.
More information
We'll be informing our customers shortly what the decrease to our prices will mean for them. If you are a customer who has protected your prices please visit our Price Protection information page.

My totally incorrect post (21a) deleted as I had the percentages the wrong way round. Thus negating my argument.:o
Apologies to tripled as the 17% reduction for gas under the circumstances seems a fair reduction. :beer:ac's lovechild0
