    Afternoon all!

Karenann - If you can save yourself £2,700, I'd give it a go even if it meant living off beans on toast and soup for 3 months. Only do it though if you know you can without getting into any other debt. No point paying it off if you're going to end up with a £3,000 CC bill because you couldn't afford to live ;)

    Dolly - fab debt-busting today :T

Mrso2b - I've cried many a time over money, or lack of it. Usually frustration when I thought we were getting somewhere with our finances to find we weren't. :o Well done for getting finances sorted, that's a big step forward:T

Pedro - what do you mean you're not really called Pedro? You'll be telling me kerri's surname isn't really DFW next :p

Haven't paid any more off, waiting for the money to come in as per usual, but thought I'd just come and catch up and am so pleased I did!

I want to quote nearly everyone, but :grouphug: to jakesmum. mrs02b, I don't know if you're on there already, but I can totally recommend the grocery challenge. I've cut my grocery bill from around £500 a month  to £260 (2 adults, 2 kids) and I can honestly say, we haven't really noticed the difference in what we eat. I've also cut my "pocket money" to £10 a week and it's amazing how many things you realise you don't really want after all!

At the end of December I really didn't know what to do to sort my life out so a huge THANK YOU to everyone who posts on here. Every time you make a payment it makes me :D.

Thanks for that link, that's brilliant! I think I'll make that soup today, I have everything except the carrots, so that's dinner until the weekend for under £1... :j

KarenAnn, I know what you're feeling I was like this a few months ago when the same company offered me an early settlement price. I turned them down, as they are still going to offer it to me however many months later. Just because it's there now, don't believe them when they say it won't be there in x amount of days. I'm intending on waiting until the end of march then phoning them and offering a full and final there on the phone of half the amount I owe and see what they say to that. I've also found that the first quote they gave me was much lower than any of the other quotes I've had subsequently.

If I were you, I'd put the money aside less your normal monthly payment for 3 months to see if you can do it, then phone them and tell them you can pay slightly less than what the offer was...see if they'll do it as all they're really interested in is getting rid of bad customers (which we are if we're 0% and with a DCA afterall ;) ). At least this way you know you won't be eating beans on toast for 3 months, and if the car goes bang, or something happens to one of you then you won't have £0. You just have to be disciplined that's all :)

Mrso2b we've all been there, don't feel you have to hide though we like our debts out there in the open and shouting all about how we've paid 1p off them because that's all we had, but at least it's a penny less than yesterday :D

Jakesmum, this is the internet but we also live in a country of free speech so you can rant away to us all you like *hugs* hope you feel better soon xx

I actually cried on Friday over money, how sad is that!

But have picked myself up and dusted myself down and am ready to tackle this.

As we have some work needed doing to our house, we have decided to put some money aside out of the £1,000 a month in case we need anything done to the house, so we're not in the same position as this month where we had to fork out £250 for the plumber.

I have been reading this thread and it's made me feel very humble: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/51430531#Comment_51430531

Its really not sad - I have cried a number of times worrying about debt!
