£5 for a statement ordered accidently

hello. Changed banks to A&L recently and inavertantly ordered a a paper statement instead of a download version - my mistake I know BUT they are charging me a £fiver to send it to me!
I called them within two minutes of ordering to say that I had made an inadvertant mistake and they almost may have said "your problem matey!" - in fact I think they did!
I then emailed them and they did say "your problem matey!"
My issues are:
1) Why don't they have a checkout facility to acknowledge more clearly that by pressing this button you accept the charge. If I pay a bill, I have to reaffirm my password. Does anybody read the bland detail or jump straight in to the drop download links and submit buttons like me?
2) I think that I have purchased something from them and therefore within distance selling law I have the right to return for a refund! Not sure if and how the banking code could affect that? One law - one code - law should win over.
3) Why do I not like banks?
