Hi.
In the last 2 months or so I've had 5 PS3's from the store GAME.
all of which have been faulty, today the 5th of the PS3 decided to pack up on me once again.
All the ps3's ive had from GAME have been faulty and not lasted a week, all being something wrong with the harddrive down to getting YLOD.. Now this week I will be taking this current playstation back to the store for the 5th time.
They said they can't offer me a refund only exchange, I work in retail and any faulty on an item people have 3 months to return, so Im here for some advice.. what would you do? I'm getting fed up Im even seeing the same person who deals with my faults, they told me every PS3 is checked but when I turned my last PS3 I had some persons details on the PS3 from their login online to their pictures, so therefore how can they check these systems?
Thanks,

So to clarify - this are pre-owned and not new equipment?
GAME provide a warranty with them and they have presumably not refused to replace the unit again?
Your numbers do not add up - you've had 5 in the past two months or so but none last longer than a week? 5 PS3's versus 8 weeks - does this mean you are not getting straight swap replacements?
If they are indeed used and they are indeed willing to replace the unit again what exactly do you think will be different from a different supplier? The same could happen again for example?0 -
Yes sorry, they are used. When they tell me they are all checked over etc I don't believe this for one second, they told me they format everything, this wasn't the case on a few PS3's I have proof of purchase's I only wanna play 1 game, tonight I was playing the PS3 Console and it just cut off, then I tried different wires to see if that was the problem but you can clearly hear the nosie it makes when it's about to turn off.
I'm sick to death of dragging myselg backwards and forwards to the store, I paid good money for this (knowing it was used) but still for £160 you expext it to atleast work.0 -
I believe there is a clause in SOGA which states where a remedy is not fulfilled within reasonable time, the consumer can therefore reject the goods for a refund. So as far as i'm aware, unless they drag their feet you have to accept their remedy.
You do seem to be extremely unlucky though!!! What is the fault?
Would accepting a credit note be of use to you or not? Many stores are willing to offer this instead of a refund, so if they won't offer a refund perhaps they would be willing to compromise.0 -
Very unlucky indeed! I can't believe what is happening, the 1st PS3 that I had stopped playing the discs and then the others was down to faulty lazer then the other was blocked online so I couldn't play any games or enter my details. and then was down to disc read error again, so it's not like I dont want the console because I do.
They didn't have an answer to when I took it back for being blocked onine gaming, the previous owner must of been doing something dodgy. I thought about a credit note and thought about changing consoles to an XBOX but I've always had PS3 because of mates having the same.0 -
Needing your 6th machine seems like a lot, you say you only want to play one game, may it be a dodgy disc? Try other games.
Make sure the console has ventilation and isn't overheating, stop giving it a damn good thump whenever you get shot, etc0 -
LOL, I did try different games and the same thing happened. I love football so I only play FIFA12.. to make matters worse, I sold my phone to put to this PS3!
I thought it might be overheating but seriously it wasn't on for more than an hour, then it just conked.0 -
bear in mind unscrupulous people return their PS3's to these trade in services when problems occur - just because they can get more money this way than through eBay and other such auctions.
Even if you get a refund there are no guarantees this wont happen elsewhere in due course...I would just ask Game for another...sooner or later you'll end up with a 'keeper'0 -
Well this is my problem with them at the minute, they must take details of the peoples who do trade in their consoles, and if they did test them why are they not finding these faults im finding? I couldn't trade in anything without giving my details. Asking GAME for another console is like asking a drug dealer for drugs, I'm addicted to GAME! lol.
If I got a refund I would put more cash and buy a brand new console.0 -
I would maybe suggest that to them then.
They check the consoles and they book them up for a period of time - but they will never catch all and everything wrong.
I would ask for a refund, you may see a slight reduction in original price paid, but nothing too significant given the number of times you've had the issue (maybe ask for a gift card or equivalent rather than cash...)0 -
Do they not sell new ones? Can you not ask to upgrade and pay the difference?0
