I work for tesco and it is classed as a bank holiday for us, time and a half for me

I still don't see the problem.
What's the usual procedure for any other bank holiday?
Interestingly, this subject was being discussed between colleagues and Management - before xmas last year. So it isn't like they've sneaked it in.
As for the Unions. It's news to me that Asda don't recognise them.
They are certainly very active in the Distribution side of the business.0 -
Unless specified specifically in your contract there is no legal right to enhanced pay on any holiday whether it be public, bank or local.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

ASDA don't recognise unions for store management, for all other colleagues they do quite openly invite to join unions, for the supermarkets division they had presentations from the GMB for all new colleagues during the best welcome starter days at the training centres, with the GMB giving out applications to take their payments directly out of your wages each month, managers tend to use the unions on a more informal basis with payment by direct debit and mobile numbers for contacts within the GMB.0

I also didn't say that Asda do not recognise unions - I said Wal-Mart are union busters. They have been forced into accepting unions in the UK, but they certainly don't like it. And will do anything they can to break the unions. And have tried to.

There's plenty more if you look. Leopards don't change their spots. Wal-Mart will keep trying to break their unions. It's what they do everywhere else - why should the UK be any different?0 -

...the bank holiday of what?
I think the OP is more concerned about the pay than the time off, although it's not clear if the OP works Sundays as standard. Assuming she doesn't, then she will be owed a day in lieu. She'd only be owed time if it's a contractual agreement, and given what she's saying (that Asda aren't recognising the BH), it sounds like it is.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
My contracted hours do not include Sundays, but I do work Mondays. So everyone in my department who isn't working Sunday (as home shopping is closed) will get paid as normal, whereas I will be paid as normal on Monday.0
