o2 contract help
Options
I was just wandring if anyone can help me, I purchased 2 blackberry phones at christmas for my daughters, they've on an O2, 50 24 month contract, I was lead to beleive that on this contract my daughters would have 150 text and 50 talk time for £10.50 per month capped, and would need "bolt ons" should they use there given amount, it now appears that is not the case, is there anything i can do to cancel the contact, there is a 14 day cool off but the phones were purchased on 20 October, but not sim activated until 25 Dec christmas day, can anyone addvise me.:( Thank you

You need to call O2
The cooling off period is to let you examine an item in home not a trial period. Only O2 can tell you if they will consider it from activation instead.0 -
I have called o2 and they are saying contract started 20 october, even though phone was not used or sim even put into phone until 25 Dec, I'm now tied to this contract for 2 years!, i feel I've been conned0

Did you get in writing the sims would not be activated until Xmas or were they just not put in the phones or the phones not turned on?
Normally sims are activated as soon as set up.
O2 don't have £10.50 blackberry tariff on the web site. The only £10.50 tarriff is a sim only on but you may have got a retention deal
Are you sure there is a Blackberry add on on both accounts? Otherwise they will be using data at an expensive out of bundle rate.0 -
I don't believe you'be been conned - your ability to return (assuming a mail order purchase) is based on when you recieve it, not on 'activation'. However, my greatest concern is that you (and your credit file) are supporting the equivalent of 4 years commitment of mobile services. It may be for your daughters, but it is your reputation on the line should anything go wrong whether a scam, overuse or loss. The use of the term 'capped' is fancyful, as at no time will the handsets be blocked if the maximum use has been reached, they will simply be out-of-bundle, and cost more. Your solution would have been to get 2 PAYG BB's and simply fund the top-ups and BBM access fees.
A mobile is an open sesame to your bank account, and even if your family is studious and careful in their use, issues with premium texts or scams can quickly unravel a tight budget. If you have not insured the handsets, I'd make sure you do so urgently, as any loss will still not reduce your commitment to pay for ongoing service.0 -
sonce when do o2 cap their tariffs? on what way were they sold to you as cappedWhat goes around-comes around0
