I was so excited about this but have made a rookie error!

For some reason, I didn't check Trip Advisor before I booked (which I ALWAYS do before booking a holiday). Got so excited that St Ives was on the list so booked that park then read the reviews - oh dear! It gets absolutely slated - apparently its damp and mouldy and in a time warp.

I know it's been asked before but do you think they would allow me to swap to another park? I really don't fancy spending over £100 in fuel to get there to what sounds like disgusting accommodation!

To be honest i'd say that most of these types of holiday parks get bad reviews on Trip Advisor!!! I was looking at quite a few different ones and most had really bad reviews, but then some good. I think it all depends on the person and what they expect out of a holiday and how much they use the facilities, etc.

I highly doubt they'll let you swap to another park, unless it's an error on their park eg. they overbook you.
  • Got my confirmation in post today from Haven and I have to pay another £90. I had paid £120 and billing on letter states
    Total Holiday Cost £210
    Payments made to date £120
    Balance now due £90

Make payment on or before 23/1/2012

Doesn`t say what extra costs are for. Presumably gas/electricity and linen or passes.
    Will have to ring them

i got my confirmation through too. I wonder if its a new thing not giving a price breakdown? I've never done a breakfree holiday before only the sun ones. I booked for 5 people (2 age 4) and have 72.50 to pay. It looks like its £30 for service charge (£7.50 pupn) and £28.50 for passes (3 @ £9.50) and maybe £14 for linen? im not too sure
  • Can you call park and not hire linen? I don't want their linen

Just a couple of quick questions if anyone can help?

I've booked for Butlins Minehead through this offer.
Does anyone know if you have the option to upgrade from Standard accommodation once the paperwork has arrived?

Also, are you able to upgrage to half board?

    Many thanks
    Comp wins so far:

Baileys ice cube tray, heroes DVD :j, desk demon stapler, 8GB Ipod and movie goody bag (yet to be received), Girls Aloud goody bag (yet to receive) 2x Motorcycle and scooter show tickets, Waterhorse goody bag
  • I haven't received my invoice yet but if anyone does call Haven to remove linen please let everyone know how you get on. The terms of the Breakfree holidays site are very clear, only Service Charge is mandatory. However, sounds like they don't want to make it easy for you to remove linen or passes. My youngest son and I have eczema and can't use laundry washed with commercial powders, so I'm not paying £14 for sheets that I would have to remove and replace with my own anyway.
