  • When we had a strange cat sauntering through our cat flap which sprayed everywhere I borrowed a trap from Cats Protection, took him to be spayed then brought him home and released him.
He's never been seen since so I guess he took the hint..........
  • we put rolled up chicken wire on top of 6 foot fence panels , on top then hanging over a bit, it has kept my persian cats from escaping these last 10 years..they tried at first but soon gave up as they don,t like stepping on the wobly wire..

    Wow - a bit `prisoner cell block H though'!

    regarding magnetic catflaps
my cats are happy to wear their collars - I just have to scout around & launder the ones they have as less & less `ordinary' clasp collars are to be found!

There are some other styles of catproofing that are a bit less prison-like but probably harder to make a DIY. Some with long rollers on top so if the cat tries to climb over, their paws just roll off, some with rubber spikes (similar to those pigeon-proofing ones on shop signs etc. but not quite as deadly-looking!)

OH had to do this in my garden for Georgie, until she could get out and get back in... so ours is no good now and we will probably take it all down.

a few weeks back Georgie was running along the top and fell in next doors pond (tries not to laugh).
