I chipped my fave mug, and the person who made it (it's a hand-made one by a local potter) suggested araldite or epoxy resin. Both, I think, are food safe once they're set.
There seems to be more than one kind of araldite available, though, and I'm not sure which one to use, and feel a bit silly asking him again :rotfl:
so for now my mug's still chipped..:o0 -
Thank you all for the suggestions.
It is a lovely mug, Emma Brdgewater cocoa mug, cost me only £5 at a sale as it was already a second! However I really like it, I would hate to throw it away. I am being OS by wanting to repair it, as the chip at the base would eventually break more and more of the base!
I shall have a go at repairing it and if it does not work I shall plant herbs in it.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Just ordered the Milliput white from Amazon and will have a go at repairing that mug and another one that has been sitting in my cupboard unrepaired for ages. Will let you know how it goes and if it works you can order it for yourself! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Hi Kazwookie, thank you for the offer, I do not have a camera otherwise I would do so. Will have a go first with the epoxy putty I ordered and then if it does not work I might be able to borrow a camera to post a pic of the mug and take it from there. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

I tend to use mugs as pen pots when they are much loved but retired for drinking my tea in.
I like your idea of planting herbs in though :j0
