You can stop drinking - in my case at the worst I was drinking 24/36 cans of Stella over a weekend (Fri - Sun).
I did this even while I was on my DMP (Debt Management Plan) and it took me until Oct 2011 to realise that
a) I was doing my health any good with my drinking ( I am a type 2 Diabetic) and
b) It was ruining me financially
and that point I stopped drinking and I have been alcohol free since Oct 2011.
Be strong you CAN do it !!openscreen wrote: »Well, update from me. went to bed at 3.30am Got up at 8.00am. finished last 3 cans of Stella. Went to shop for newsapaper & 2 cans of pre-mixed G&T. Drank those, went back to bed, got up for a while. Went to shop for 6 cans of stella. drank 2 in car. drank 3 ( can't remember), went to bed again at 6pm, just woke up having last one now. Wife asleep, this is stupid. Got to take charge. Wish me luck0 -

Yep time to do something. Unfortunately some people cant take charge however much they want to. Think King canute trying to turn back the tide. For some people they are as powerless over alcohol as he was over the sea. I have said it before and will say it again; this book kind of saved my life.

I would wish you luck, but unfortunately luck doesn't come into it!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I have failed my target for October BUT I am not unhappy as I am feeling firmly in control and that I am firmly clutching the stop button with both hands. I have had a couple of really good nights out and NO creeping death feeling the next morning, no blanks, no cringing which is a massive breakthrough. In fact, I have been drinking but havent been drunk
Im going to go for 10 AFDs in November pleaseHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

openscreen - wishing you well on your journey, 365 days mentioned a book, I also read the Allen Carr book, it really helped me to quit for a while and I am definatley more in control now
Congrats 365days :j:j

You're obviously aware you need to do something or you wouldn't be posting. Are these daily drinking habits or just weekends? I'd advise trying just one AF day and building from there but if that's a daily intake maybe cold turkey would be too much. Keep posting.:)
Good to hear from you idris. I know what you mean about control. I'm likely to end up with about half a month AF, which I'm pleased with but knowing I've been to two family weddings without a hint of any embarassing behaviour and no hangovers pleases me immensely.:D0 -
16 AF please Shaggy and setting a target of 16 for Nov please
Wishing you luck Openscreen, keep posting on here, it has helped many including myself in lots of waysIt’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts0
