YAY! Just got £206 worth of stuff for free, lol. Just come back from Boots' 75% off sale (started today! ... and will probably end today if things carry on the way they were earlier, lol!). My shopping came to £51.50 and I paid for it all in points... points that I collected during the shopping events before Xmas :money:. My xmas shopping has now paid for xmas, most birthdays this year, and has helped go towards next xmas too!
Ooh, and I still have 1039 worth of points left too, will save them for the 90% off sale if we get one
(I apologise if this post comes across as smug, lol - I just get very excited about the Boots sale!)

Wooo hoooo :j:j All the wishing for the £50 cheque to arrive worked as it has dropped on the mat today!! Adding it now as I will nip to the bank this afternoon as am working from home today.
Lolly - not smug at all. As I am in town at the bank I will be popping into boots to hopefully get some bargains. Would be rude not to0 -
Hi after a month of no computer I would like to join the make money thread again please. Please can you put me down for £5 a day for january 2012. I know I am a late starter this year. After an obscenely expensive christmas and period where everything in the house broke (dryer, wash machine, alternator, bed, computer, phone, hairdryer and much more!) luckily the kids did not grow last month
and 2 birthdays! ( my 6 yo son and my 33 yo hubby. I am trying to get back to saving and frugaldom... I need a house deposit in 3 years time so here goes...
I am planning on going on a diet too as could do with losing a few pounds there...whilst saving a few pounds in the purse...diets seem so expensive though! and low fat food costs more!
Thanks for the thread

Had a bad start to the year - my 13month old freezer packed in; currys is not returning phone calls, letters, etc (they promised to call me back in 3 days and they havent!!) and are not offering me a refund, or someone to come out and fix it, etc! Its 13 months old, and I am out of my guarantee by one month! i didnt pay for a freezer to last me 13 months!! I had to throw alot of food out - (it still breaks my heart just thinking about it - it was a chest freezer so you can imagine!!).
Consumer rights:
When you buy an item from a trader (eg a shop or online shop) the law says the item must be:- of satisfactory quality – last for the time you would expect it to and be free of any defects
A freezer should be expected to last a lot longer than 13 months, so I think you should be able to have it repaired or replaced for free.
Contact Consumer Direct, they can help you with writing letters etc, and will give advice on your situation.
Good luck!R.I.P. Bart. The best cat there ever was. :sad:0 -
Hi all :hello:
Very proud of myself as booked the day off today (DD's bday) and although she's at school thought I could do all the running about- take cake to restaurant ready for tea time etc.
Went to M&S for a cake and they had a princess one, £9.99. There were about 5/6 of them but one had todays date on so I cheekily asked if they'd consider taking anything off and after speaking to the manager they got me £5 offI was so proud of myself cos normally I'd not dared have asked for anything like that
All I could think was - need to go and tell them on the thread!!
