Sister needs advice re separation

  • The furniture he removed was jointly-owned property. He could see that as taking his half. What he actually took, if it wasn't discussed and agreed between them beforehand, seems from the outside as unnecessarily selfish and hurtful but it's really only "stuff". Stuff which can be replaced with something a million miles better and hasn't had his loathsome @rse on it. In order to prevent him coming back and taking even more without her agreement she should consider changing the barrel of one of the locks on front and back doors. This isn't strictly legal but by the time he's got cross, spent good money by going to court and succeeded in getting any type of order your sister could have removed everything put it into into storage. Meanwhile claiming that she needed to sell it all in order to meet the mortgage-payments he's not contributed towards.

    Freecycle could be your sister's best friend in the short-term to tide her over.
