Downloaded the regfix, ran a scan with Symantec in safe mode, nothing found. Does anyone know why it hangs in normal mode?

There is so much bloat on there, I'd be tempted to strip it all out,

uninstall all the toolbars, antivirus, updaters, winamp, google update, spybot, virgin av, pc tools firewall, rapport, rpcap, free download manager.

then either reinstall norton, or use the free version of avast and windows firewall

Most likely renamed copies of rkill by Grinler - Owner/Admin of Bleeping Computer.

I've followed all advise above and managed to speed up pc. It now loads up and switches of quicker. Tried uninstalling loads of the stuff. However, having problems getting rid of the following;
Rapport, downloaded special uninstaller but it still appears on Windows uninstaller
Foxytunes and Yahoo toolbar, Windows uninstaller freezes
Spybot. warns me about problems when uninstalling

Install and run ccleaner (untick the google toolbar during the install). Untick the "windows log files" box, under the system heading before cleaning. Also Tick the java cache tick box under CCleaner, applications, internet to wipe the java cache which sometimes hides infections. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

Install and run startuplite, accept suggested changes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/StartUpLite.exe

Download and install cleanmem http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem (download direct download). In windows explorer, go to c:\windows\tasks, click on the clean system memory task, schedule, advanced, and change it from every 30 minutes to every 5 minutes, then ok, ok.

start, run, services.msc - disable these services UNLESS you use them. (make a note of any services you disable,if you have any problems related to these services subsequently, simply re-enable them)
