I seen this too, poor customer service from them when people have already made plans to go and pay before the end of the month.

If you email them at merlin.annualpass@merlinentertainments.biz and tell them you were planning to buy before the end of the month they will email back with authorisation to get the 50% off. I've decided not to bother as I just think they are trying to screw every last penny out of their loyal customers with all these tricks and reduction in benefits to standard pass holders!

Just phoned Gweek number on here & they said no it ends at the end of the month so Merlin's change of end date doesn't seem to have filtered through yet?? Ordered mine anyway & the lady there was lovely & very helpful :) You have 10 months to change your form into a pass at a Merlin site too ;)
    Happy Bargain Hunting!!
  • Just tried ringing Gweek & they said that Merlin have pulled the offer early & that there is nothing that they can do at their end but may be worth emailing Merlin direct. Maybe its just as well though for me as I was in two minds whether we would make good use of them as the kids are a bit bored with Alton Towers & Warwick castle which are our nearest & keep saying that they want to go to Drayton Manor instead.

I just emailed the above address (Merlin.AnnualPass@merlinentertainments.biz)
and they replied to me in minutes with a mail, that if printed off and taken to an attraction ticket booth, entitles you an extension for the 50% off until January 31st.

    Happy Days.
  • Have emailed Merlin, hoping they reply soon.

My friend was told we HAVE to take our kids to get their photos taken, is this true? Don't fancy taking 5 kids, 2 of them autistic, on the tube on a Saturday, Cant I just take photos of them with me? Going to Madame Tussards.
  • we have had annual passes in the year in which our daughter turned from 3 to 4.

We ound loads to do- at Legoland, Chessington, Sealife etc. The only one which was a huge non event for us (her) was Alton Towers- it is definitely aimed at children over 120cm, which I think is approx 7 yrs.

My daughter is now approaching 5 and is 108cm.
It is interesting too that the rides they have at Legoland have a height restriction of say 90cm, while the same ride (with a different name) a Chessington is a min of 110cm.

We went to the zoo last weekend- huge queues for people buying their tickets/photos, but it was much quieter around 2.30, just before Chessington shut.
  • Just got the email. It does specifically state that all of you must be present to have your photo taken. A real pain as, like others, I was waiting for pay day then going to phone Gweek and try to get vouchers posted (have heard so much about 'the lovely lady', I was looking forward to speaking to her!). Really don't fancy dragging the kids in to London at the weekend so might end up missing out. Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread though. Have been following it, waiting for my opportunity! Guess you win some, you lose some.

If you have time today you could maybe go and get the forms and fill them in beforehand to save time. You could even get your pass done today. Taking the photo doesn't take long, but I have found it faster if I have my information written down and the person in the annual pass office can just copy from that to the computer instead of having to ask me each question about each child, have names spelled out etc.

Sorry that doesn't help with the tube, but will save time while you're there.

Merlin do let you send a photo, I've done it before with the tesco passes, but this 50% offer is only available at the venue :(

It's a shame they make the kids have photos. You're not going to take somebody else's kids out for the day and leave yours at home. It would be much easier if they just put a photo of the parent on the kids cards.

just a random thought, would they let you get 2 free carer passes for your autistic children? carers passes have a photo of the disabled person on, and the carer can be anyone over 14 I think. So, depending on the ages of your children you might only have to take some of them on the tube.

Yes, this is right. My son had his picture taken and his picture is on the card, so the 2 children needing carers card would have to be there for them to get 2 carers passes.

One thing to be careful off, someone was told last week that a carer can only be someone aged 16 or over (it might have been 18 - I cannot remember where I read it I am afraid) because they have to be able to help the disabled person in an emergency and 14 year olds usually cannot. So if you are getting the carers passes for the kids, be careful with this option.
