Inflation on them has been steep this year!
Oi you two, shhhh!!! Don't get my DH started. He's been pining after the Apollo Speedmaster for ages. Fortunately, then he remembers the price and the fact there's a mortage to pay and common sense kicks in. No giving him ideas...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Torn between planet ocean, orange bezel, slightly dearer and seamaster automatic chronograph, black face/bezel.
I went Seamaster Prof Co-Axial Chrono, Black. Simply lovely and simply wouldnt have had another watch over it. Very happy with it.
And viva, you can tell him it was also a part reward for finishing the mortgage off. Tell him to buckle down to some hard work!0 -
I love watches but we always seem to be paying down mortgages and never have spare cash for such luxuries. My missus and I bought ourselves matching Rado watches when we first got married and lived in the Middle East, they're nice enough and because they're made from ceramics they look as good as the day we bought them, not a scratch.
I'd love to have a submariner though,
but I doubt I'll have any free money for many more years yet. Oh well, perhaps as a retirement present.0 -
What a weird thread!
I can only presume these watches appreciate in value, or what would be the point?
Personally, if I want to know the time I look at my phone, or the clock on the wall, or my screen, but at my age I don't want to do that too often.
A watch you could put on and slow time down, now that would be worth having......Or even better, one that would reverse it.
2007 anyone? :beer:0 -
I do like myself a good timepiece, but I'd struggle to justify something as bog standard boring as the one posted above.
Now this, on the other hand - oh yes.

I have myself a cheap (in watch land) Rotary skeleton watch, similar style to the one above, but showing a bit more of the guts. Of course, just a standard balance wheel.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -
I've got a watch from Argos. It cost about £14.0

I was until recently using my Simpson`s watches that were free with Kellogs cornflakes. The watches date from a few years ago. There were 4 different colours to choose from. Going to use the phone from now on.0

Oh I don't know, most are understated (well except those exposed ones that show all the innards, usually cheaper brands trying to look more expensive) and they are often very secure - my current watch has a titanium clasp and wristband links and seems to be very secure on my wrist. After owning it over 10 years, it's still rock solid.0 -

Yeah, just because you can't afford one!0
