  • Good luck tomorrow - as others have said there will be a solution.

Have you checked with your HR Dept about sick pay?
i am fully back to work now so no sick pay involved.i only work part time as does my wife.we have £1500 coming in monthly but pay over £1300 out in direct debits/mortgage/payplan etc so not much to manouevre
  • Go get yourself a cuppa/or something slightly stronger if you have it and get Ebaying tonight, Ebay is quite busy tonight, i've sold a ton of carp today, not made that much but every little does really help and it makes me feel better and the house is clearer for it.

Stop worrying, what is done is done.

Payplan will try and help you if you are honest with them.

Don't worry - easy to say, I know (and I'm the world's best worrier)

Ring Payplan - are they still open tonight? If so, don't wait, ring them now.

"Hi, I have been rather stupid in the past with my finances but since 2010 I promised myself I would stop & get myself sorted.
I am happy to say that I kept to this, however, I have come accross a hurdle which I didnt forsee & desperately need some advice.
In Aug 2009 I opened a DMP with Payplan, but I never paid into this. Then is Oct 2009 I took out a Payday loan. I have now begun making regular monthly payments to Payplan, however because this Payday loan was takin out after I signed the DMP agreement they are refusing to deal with them.
I have been warned by this company that they could take me to court, they have said they have registered a CCJ with Northampton County Court however I have never received paperwork to back this up, which I have advised on numerous occasions. The ammount I owe is £325 which doesnt seem alot but I simply do not have funds to clear it. I have been discussing this directly with them myself, they have offered numerous payment plans but all unaffordable for me. Where do I go from here? I do not want to be taken to court over this but it seems I cant agree with them an affordable monthly payment.
Any help would be much apreciated.
PS Payplans advice was just to deal with them direct as they cant. (Helpful) "

    Hi Waterboy

I'm with the other posters who say that taking your life is not the solution. I see that you're a postie - are you a union member? If you are, contact your rep as soon as you get to work to ask about your union's Welfare Fund. It's there specifically to help members who are having a hard time, and with your injury and time off work, it's fair to say you've definitely had a hard time of it. It's possible the Welfare Fund could make a one-time-only payment to you to help out with the payday loans.

Alternatively, if Payplan aren't able to keep your DMP open then contact CCCS (they're open until 8.00 p.m.) and see what they recommend.

Good luck and keep coming back here, the support and help is just amazing.
  • hi no im not in the union at work.the trouble is i am sorted with payplan (no hassle)though obviously still paying my debt albeit over a longer term.i just dont want the dissapointment of them telling me i cant add the pdl to the dmp and the fact they might cancel my dmp as well.

Ah, well it was worth a try. I'm sorry to say that I do think Payplan might cancel your DMP - I think all the free debt advice charities insist that you don't take on any more debt while you're on a DMP, because if you can't afford your full payments to existing debts, and all your surplus after living costs is going to pay those existing debts, then you certainly wouldn't be able to pay any additional debts. As you have unfortunately found out. As things stand, I really would recommend you speak to CCCS or National Debtline - there's a chance CCCS would offer you a DMP and you could include your payday loans because, as far as they need to know, it's just another debt on the list. No need to tell them about Payplan, and I'm certain you've learned a hard lesson and wouldn't take out any more debt.

Sorry OP but Payplan are not open until the 3rd now, if you have access to Payplan plus I would suggest sending a message to your case manager asking for an urgent call back when they re-open. :)

Don't be too hard on yourself, when there are countries in the world going bankrupt then what you owe is a grain of sand in comparison.

It will get sorted one way or another and everyone makes mistakes - that is how we learn :)

  • Hi there

Did you get sick note from doctor when you severed our tendons? You may be able to get it backdated if not - as a postie you should get paid sick leave for quite a while with doctors notes but you don't say how long you've been off work. If depression has kicked in, which it sounds like it has, then I strongly suggest you go back to your GP to get anti-depressants. don't worry about starting these as you can discuss it with your doctor. If you have gone on to a lower wage as a result of your sickness and after supplying drs notes you need to check that you have all the benefits you are entitled to at the job centre. If you don't feel up to this, take a friend or partner with you - good luck!
