Send it back to their warehouse in St Neots, with a nice polite letter, complimenting the brand etc and I'd be very surprised if they did not replace it providing it's a genuine CK product

Polite letter? Nooooo! you need to go in guns blazing, threaten legal action, quote laws in legalese that you don't really understand, demand compensayshun etc.

Nobody does polite these days, Martin tells us we have to FIGHT these companies, we don't ned to be polite anymore....

...I thought that as long as it isnt deemed wear and tear you get 12 months to exchange etc.
Where did you get that thought from?
Are they able to rule only 6 months guarentee,
They can rule on whatever guarantee they like.
They do not have to provide any guarantee.
All guarantees are in addition to your statutory rights.
the receipt states clearly i have rights under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
No guarantee can take away your statutory rights, which includes Sale of Goods Act rights.

You really need to read that MSE document linked to in post #3.

Try writing a polite letter or email and if possible attach pictures of the damage.

I have quite a lot of dealings with CK Head Office, the staff are actually really friendly and proud of their company. It had a massive injection of capital last year and is going through massive expansion so they get the odd teething problem.

I don't work for CK by the way and I'm a guy so don't buy their stuff but knowing how friendly their staff are would recommend you try the polite letter first or pop into one of their stores
  • we bought it in a CK store and could probably get to the Brighton store at a push.
