Talk Talk Broadband - Have to cancel current provider

Hi
I've been having problems getting talk talk to provide me with my 'free' broadband. I've been on to them numerous times over the last few months, and today they've come up with yet another new story.
They say that I have to cancel my current broadband (with Orange) before they can start providing me with broadband (and this will take up to fifteen days - during which time I will be without broadband). I have in the past supplied them with a MAC code but they never did anything with it. Today I was told that this was due to an 'incompatible product' on my line. According to their website there definitely isn't any need to cancel my account, I should just need to get the MAC code
I'm tempted to cancel Orange as I want this to be sorted ASAP and it's difficult getting through to anyone at talk talk without being transferred and then cut off. However I am reluctant to do this as I don't believe everything will be magically sorted in fifteen days (it's eight months since I first applied) - anyone else been in the same situation or have any advice?
Thanks
Nick

As you are having so much hassel with this provider do you really want to do business with them, and if you have problems down the line do you think they will sort it out?????
Just a thought!If i need it I can't afford it
If what goes around comes around, i've started a BIG circle0 -
I had been tempted to go to talk talk months ago, but after hearing the horror stories and then seeing the 'watchdog' programme I decided firmly against the idea.
After having problem for 8 months with them and still not being connected, have you thought of cancelling! I would wonder whether they would be any good even if they did eventually connect broadband.
I would be very nervous if I had to cancel my existing provider especially if they don't get their act together afterwards.
Hopefully someone who has had the same sort of experience will be along soon to advise you - sorry I can't help.
Good luck0 -
You should read the thread I have just started.
