Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

  • I moved on to:

another set of coasters - cs
1 old vegetable dish - bin
    1 faulty kettle - bin
    1 fondue set - cs
3 stainless steel teapots - cs
1 stainless steel milk jug - cs

then the door bell went and it was AgeUK coming to collect it all. I have been storing everything in my sitting room - and now have 1/4 of the room back - and empty! For those like me who don't have transport, this was the perfect answer. What a lovely man - and I could sign a gift aid form too. :j
  • Hello Everyone,
It's almost a week since I joined and I've been chucking stuff left, right and centre :j

    OK, here goes...
    1. Six rolls of wallpaper - moved from cupboard to walls in bedroom - at last! And one returned to store as surplus to requirements.
    2. Old carpet to tip
    3. Huge pile of wood to recycling
    4. Box of assorted 'things' to CS
    5. Cull of DHs wardrobe and drawers - resulting in two bags to textile recycling and two to CS
    6. Nine eBay parcels posted..yay!
Also assorted pieces of unwanted furniture listed on eBay and Gumtree - just hoping for sales now!

But....we are in the process of clearing FILs house before he moves to a smaller place so in came three tea sets, four brand new sets of sheets and two brand new pure wool blankets. I need to seriously consider whether they are useful, beautiful, both or neither!

    Keep at it, everyone x
Decluttering, home-making and 'proper' cooking are my priorities this year and trying to finish all those unfinished hobby projects before spending any more money!
  • Well done craft-a-holic and silentsister :T
Just posted the last of my ebay parcels today lunchtime. Have decided to put a box on the landing labelled 'ebay' and put any ebayable things in it so when the next free listing weekend rolls around everything is in one place.

Afternoon everyone! Not much progress today - YET!

Had the pumber/gas engineer round this morning so my old gas fire has gone! and the radiator is now on the wall hurrah!! Ive done the dishwasher maintenance and the washing machine maintenance (freeing up space in the cupboard as used up my soda crystals, dishwasher salt and dishwasher cleaner :) )

I moved the wardrobe lingering in the landing to our bedroom out of the way (DH wanted to throw it but TBH its going to come in very handy next year and its in really good condition so i loathe to get rid and have to buy another next year as its something we will definitely use!

My friend is coming just after 4 to help me with the kids so im hoping to make a dent in the decluttering. Oh i posted 12 ebay parcels today too :T

Got the cupboard under the sink done finally. And also looked out some new bigger clothes for the wee man from the bags full of hand-me-downs we get from his cousin. Gonna take a day or two off next week and do a proper declutter as I don't really manage after work. Gonna put some stuff together for Cash-for-clothes and jewellery etc for selling.

Thriftylass - sounds likes youve been very productive!

So far this evening i have thrown out some old batteries and little bits of nothing. I did a tip run today which amongst general rubbish i threw out and old snakes and ladders board and an old canvas picture ive had hanging around my hallway for AGES. I threw out all the spam mail i got today, as soon as i got it instead of dumping it on the side. Im learning! I also got the dishwasher on the go this evening so i come down to a reasonably tidy kitchen tomorrow (thinking it wil make me more productive). Im off for a bath and going to try and sort something upstairs now ive put the 3 baskets of washing away.

Oh tomorrow the cleaner is back for 2 hours (The friend has sorted a cleaner for 2 hours a week until we have settled with baby no3 :) which is so so nice!), so as she was a bit rubbish on Monday im going to write a list and prioritise jobs and see how we go. My friend said if she is still crap then she will phone the agency and get them to swap for someone else. FC the list does the trick, my house may sparkle tomorrow :) That will be a big help as its the cleaning that does me in and leaves me in so much pain but with 2 kids under 4 and a dog cleaning is kind of 24/7 :rotfl:
