Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

  • Proper on a roll today, just did the cutlery drawer. There were seven bottle openers/corkscrews. I'm not sure what that says about this house (actually, I know exactly what it says! )

5 bottle openers now in charity shop bag, along with some mini graters and a plastic 'thing'. I don't know what it is. Something to do with opening bottles I think (now there's a surprise) but not an actual bottle opener, if that makes sense (no it doesn't).

Also discovered 4 pairs of scissors, so one of those can go in the sewing box, I will take another to work, and two will no doubt be lost again before the week is out.

Got loads and loads and loads done today and really really pleased with my decluttering efforts, which also lead to cleaning efforts that resulted in two rooms being gutted, decluttered and put back together:j:j:j.

I thinks I'm going to make it to 100!!!!

Have got loads of bits to load onto free listings as well, so must get butt in gear for that.

Also going to try and sort a shelf a day in the craft room to break down my elephant into smaller chunks to eat!

Oooh, everyone is doing so well with meeting (and exceeding) the February target. I am not doing very well so far, so will see what else I can find to go this weekend.

I didn't meet the January target but have found it a lot easier this month. I think the more you do, the easier it becomes. Once I see the cleared spaces I'm inspired to create more. (Or maybe some of us have ditched more because we have more to ditch , if you see what I mean)! :)

The sun today has put a spring in my step and lifted my spirits so am plodding on slowly with the decluttering and have managed a few more bits and have a pile of stuff to list on Ebay too

    Ditch 100 in February 136/100

    130 3 x Card Magazines - Freecycle
    131-134 3prs outgrown Childrens shoes - School
    135 1 x Kids Craft Book - School
    136 1 x Book - Charity

Doesnt seem much now Ive written it down but its all helping and have been washing, shopping and scanning lots of ideas (instead of keeping the complete magazine) and also trying to entertain very excited 5 and 8 year olds (read a cold blustery trip to the Park) so will still call today a success.

I was on a roll last night and this morning - spurred on by excellent encouragement from this thread :T

114 - 142 28 books accepted by Zapper. Only about £17, but a nice incentive. With Music Magpie, that's almost £41 this month :)

143 - 153. jumpers, shirts and trousers from DH's wardrobe that are too small, too scruffy or can't be mended. Not sure why he'd put the ripped stuff back on a hanger though -maybe he believes in the mending fairy! Some I can E-bay, some to CS.

Now got 58 items listed on eBay and lots more to go on. I think I'm going to have to have round 2 after this as am not being that thorough lol. It's amazing what sells on ebay it really is, most my stuff is not that great and I'm up a few hundred quid :beer::eek:

No idea how to sell the big stuff, have put my tablet on eBay and Facebook, really hope to sell that!

Got 2 big ones out, I was taking the big metal black headboards we have outside to photograph but noticed they were all scratched so not worth selling as they are not too expensive new. And just as I was doing it the scrap metal man came so he took those straight off me.

I am so proud of my self - the Estate Agent came to take the photographs on Friday morning and there was absolutely nothing lying around that shouldn't have been. :j (good job that they didn't need to open any cupboards though as a few were bursting to the seams :D Considering that before Christmas I was really down about the mess and clutter, I can't believe how the house is transformed. And it is so much easier to dust and hoover now (well, I didn't used to do it as there was so much clutter :D.) Why though does the rest of the family not see the need to keep it totally clutter free (for when we have viewings) - I am now nagging everyone to clear up after themselves. I bought hubby one of those mini platic chest of drawers for the kitchen to put little bits and pieces as well as the keys, phones, glasses, etc but he insists on putting things on the side instead.

Anyway, the house is by no means clutter free. We still have to tackle the loft and the rafters in the garage.

Today I have sorted my cutlery & utensils drawers so have got past the 100 again.

6 sports drinks bottles (CS & bin)
    Half a lemon squeezer (bin)
    1 egg slicer (bin)
    Various plastic cutlery (bin)
1 lightweight awning for caravan (sold)
1 broken mini hand mixer (bin)
1 laundry basket (tip) (replaced with a smaller one)
Out of date cake decorating items (bin)
1 bag of sticky sweets (bin)
    2 tins of chocolates (work)
