I almost got caught by the same scammer!

Warning to everyone!!!!

payment-guaranteed@amazon.co.uk

Amazon will never give you the dispatch address in an email - you will only get this by logging onto your seller space.

Asked me to send an item to this address:

Mr. Fred. Jacobs
93 Capitol Road,
Agege Lagos,
23401
Nigeria

Watch out!

Just to warn you our friend 'Fred' has changed tactic, he emailed me enquiring about an item I had on amazon marketplace, and then overnight said he had purchased the item and paid £34.99 for Recorded Delivery and he needed me to post it out straight away, giving the following address..

73 Arifanla Road Oke-Koto
Agege Lagos,
23401
Nigeria

However I hadn't received conformation from Amazon and no such purchase had been made so please be aware. His email address was freddiexx101jacobs@hotmail.com and that was his Amazon Marketplace ID too. I have reported it to Amazon but he needs to be caught up with, as he is clearly trying this from every angle.
• Had this today, silly mistake and did not select the correct buyer requirements in eBay, then the item sold to the member brown873xxxx
He gives an address in London which on checking turns out to be a Church (james brown 197 Piccadilly, London London W1J 9LL United Kingdom)
And a fake mobile number (447035946937)
I then had two mails one from eBay, one from PayPal claimingthat full payment has been made and that I should post the item, but to an address in Nigeria

JAMES JOHNSON
17,ALADE CLOSE
Iju Rd. Agege
23401
Lagos State
Nigeria.

eBay explain that sometimes people register from out of the UK and assure me that they take scams and fraudulent accounts very seriously, but cannot do anything for at least two weeks until it is clear that the buyer has no intention of paying.

Of course no payment was made, the whole thing is a con, just be careful.

A number starting "70" is not a mobile number, they used to be called "personal numbers". They can be set up to forward to anyway they like. They often have very high call charges too.

Interesting point - I have noticed a huge increase in cards in newsagents windows as people try and sell things locally to people paying in cash (with no ebay fees, or foreign scammers)

My local one now charges £1 a week for a small card and has over 100 cards on display at the front. Its a nice sideline.
• What gets me about Ebay is that their rules always seem to favour the con merchants. Whether a buyer or a seller, if you come up against a con artist they will have worked out a way to beat the system. Amazon are a little better, for buyers at least, though.

Poor Mr Tobi, he's paid for his product don't you know, are you going to be mean and not send him it?

Probably the worst attempt at an Amazon scam I've seen in a while.
