I hope there are good things happening in the Happy Now household, your husband's op was successful and he has healed. As it's the end of the academic year, I hope the young Happy's exams went well, and your tenant is back on track. I also hope there are no further nasty surprises for you, but from your silence I'm rather thinking that might not be the case.
Just to let you know, my businessette was launched to a complete lack of fanfare which was what I wanted, and is ticking along exactly as I expected - slowly, surely and quietly. The key thing is that I took the idea three years ago and saw it through to completion in terms of getting it out there. It's given me an enormous feeling of achievement and I'm working on the next project.Better is good enough.0 -

Good morning!
It's been two months since I wrote in my diary. Apologies to visitors and diary friends for not at least popping in to confirm I am still alive and kicking. It's been a hard couple of months and I just couldn't face writing it all down. Thanks for all your messages though, much appreciated and it means a lot.
The main issue has been Mr Happy's health. His operation is quite a common one - to repair tears in his shoulder and re-attach the muscles, tendons and bones. However, there are degrees of tear, and Mr Happy's were very severe, coupled with poor tissue quality in the area. That made it difficult for the surgeon to make a good repair and we won't know the final outcome until August.
Post-op he was in terrible pain for several weeks and had to wear a sling, night and day, for the first four weeks, after which he could gradually reduce the sling-time and begin some gentle physio. So for two months I have been caring for him, driving him to all his doctor and physio appointments, looking after all the animals, doing everything in the house myself (I now HATE our coal fires!), and doing extra hours in my full-time job because of problems there. I have been knackered! The hardest part has been staying cheerful for Mr H's sake, to try and take the edge off his worry, frustration and boredom. The kids have been great, ringing every day, but this was their uni revision and exam period so I needed them to stay put and focus on their work as best they could.
Anyway, gradually he has improved and last week he was given the OK to drive again, so this week he has returned to work. His own job is very heavy and manual and he can't do that, so he is just helping out with advice. His employer has been great and paid him as normal throughout, but realistically that can't continue if he doesn't mend well enough to do his normal job. No point worrying about that yet though, he might be fine in a couple of months.
Hmm, it took me ages to write all that and I'm supposedly working from home today. I will be back later with a fuller update.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Lovely to see you back Mrs H. What a time you've had. Here's hoping the worst is over and Mr H improves a little every day from now on.
Take care

OK, so update number two.
The Happy Kids - Master H has just come home from uni for the summer. He is just as untidy and hungry as last time he was here, and he still can't find the 'off' switch to any light or appliance he uses. He will be away working for a lot of the summer so our house will just be his base camp where he comes to scavenge for food/toiletries/clean washing. Little Miss has just finished her final exam and will be home on Monday. She still has her boyfriend in her uni town so she will also be coming and going. She has a shop job in her uni town too, so she can pick up shifts when she is there to pay her expenses.
The Happy Animals - all still going strong and no vet bills recently. This includes our old cat, who I accidentally ran over last August and thought was a goner!
Me! Now I'm the success story here! I decided I was fed up of my lumpy, dumpy body and while I have been mia I set myself a 50 day food challenge. Not a diet as such, but a pledge that for 50 days I would eat only when I was hungry and then only healthy food. I am 46 days into it and the results are amazing!! Seriously! I've been a size 10 all my life up until the last five years or so when I wandered up to a size 12. Well, I am now back wearing size 10 clothes that I haven't worn for years and some of my shape has come back. I have a waist again. I can't believe how quickly it has happened and, frankly, how easy it has been. The 50 days ends next Monday . I will ease up a little then because I don't want to end up too thin (can't believe I've just written that!) but I will keep going with the principle. I feel healthier and my energy levels are high which has helped me through the last couple of months.
Next update - money, but I have to work nowLBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Lovely to see you Mrs H, and well done on the weightloss that's great !
Sorry to hear things have been so tough and that the op took such a toll on Mr Happy. I think we said before it sounds very similar if not the same as the op Mr PG had. He is so much better now although its three years since his op ( how time flies) but still gets the odd niggle every now and then. Sounds as though Mr H;s employers have been really good to him though , that must have been a weight off of your mind.
The Happy Kids sound like they are all doing well, Im sure you will enjoy having them around for a bit, all be it they may run up a few bills.
