We all have days like that. Thankfully, with our targets, it's not every day.0 -
Having said that, I hereby give advance notice that tomorrow I intend failing at one of my targets. Mr H and I are planning date night. There's a warm evening forecast, so we're going to cook a lovely meal then relax in the garden with a bottle of red, rather than digging the bloody thing.
That sounds lovely and you'll enjoy it all the more for not having had any red wine all week.0 -
Date night sounds like a fab idea, Happy. It's all too easy to get caught up in the task of the moment and forget to stop and take in the view. I hope you both have a lovely time.DAY 9
Zero alcohol - Despite it being Friday I didn't even feel particularly tempted. How rare. Habit. Booze is a habit, so if you go without on School Nights, so to speak, by Friday you're either gagging for it (rather worrying) or *meh* (rather fabulous).
Maximum of 1400 calories per day, to include 5 x fruit and veg and just one sweet treat.
1398 calories eaten, five x F & V. The sweet treat was 100g of liquorice comfits. The really cheap 'One Pounder' ones from our local garden centre. They're the best. I've found the cheapest ones are seriously nasty, but then again, I shouldn't really know enough to compare, should I. The key here is they're your favourites.
Six glasses of water per day Yep, but I just drank the last one five minutes ago so it could be a rough night. Hope it wasn't too bad. Having one AF beer gets me up in the night, so I've stopped bothering to drink it. That little ex-boozey habit took a full five years to break, but I'm finally there. Which is how I know booze is often just a habit, but probably not in my case.Daily dog walk at a fast pace No, but again I have been digging and hauling stone around the garden which more than makes up for it. Do your dogs join in the digging? Layla's good at digging on our bed, and in the corners of rooms on the carpet, but useless out of the house, other than where we've put bonemeal around the two fruit trees. Not helpful.
No looking at my phone in bed or after 11 pm. Managed it last night and slept a full 7 hours. Will go to bed as soon as I've posted this, phone out of sight. Seriously well done! Doesn't it feel lovely?
No money wasting. Balance YNAB daily. Bought my One Pounder sweets at the garden centre and spent £2.99 on some cactus re-potting compost. A prickly job for this weekend (the prickly part will be persuading Mr H to do it). YNAB balanced.

Yesterday...
1) Be in bed by 10.00pm and light out by 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday - Pass. I was really tired so was in bed at 9.20pm and the light went off at 9.50pm. Sorry you were so tired, but well done for being so disciplined. I hope you felt better for it yesterday.
2) At least 30 minutes walking during the day - Pass. I managed 50 minutes in total yesterday (2 x 20 minute walks & 1 x 10 minute walk). I will have to make a real effort to get out walking over the weekend especially if it is going to be hot like they forecast because I hate the heat. It was stonking here by 9.00 am, and it didn't cool down until sunset, so I imagine it's probably pretty hot wherever you are. I think you can let yourself off the hook in this heat - you wouldn't be doing yourself any favours if you got sunburnt or heatstroke.
3) Drink 3 bottles of water a day - Fail. I was out most of the day so no clue really but probably not.
Today's the day to rev up on the water-drinking then, given the heat, so not all is lost.Better is good enough.0 -
- Lose more weight, ideally down to 65kgs by 1 September. Not brilliant. Monday's weigh day, so I've got 48 hours to undo the damage.
- 15 minutes Flying a day, Monday to Friday; A serious amount of vacuumming, laundry and other nonsense.
- Leg stretches immediately after all dog walks. Done several times, and if it isn't enough and my legs are hurting I now do 15 - 40 second stretches several times during the day. It's bad, but it's better.
- Lights out by 11.30 pm Total fail again. We went out with friends and I'm always wired afterwards, which isn't helpful. It will be much, much earlier tonight.

Wow - everyone's doing pretty well with the challenges! Mine's been ok but have to sort out the water whilst at work and my sleep pattern has been rather erratic!
Honey - I started the stretches - I remember doing these when I used to go to the gym. With regards to the thigh stretch, I never realised that it stretched the side thigh muscle and helped the knee. I only used to feel the stretch at the front. I'm pleased that it will also help the knee as mine are pretty creaky - I'm 64 so I supposed it's all part of ageing but I do really think that my excess weight has a lot to do with it as I can't kneel down for any length of time.
You also mentioned watching YouTube videos of tiny houses. If you get Netflix there's a series called 'Tiny House Nation' - an American reality series where tiny house experts help people to set up their new homes. I have a small flat so it was really interesting to see such clever space saving ideas. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

We’ve had a visitor so I have been beating the dust bunnies in to submission in preparation. I was positive I had posted on 22nd August but I can’t see anything – apart from the odd fail everyone has made excellent progress in my absence :T

Happy, I have every faith in your ability to make the wine last 10 weeks. I’ll be keeping a close eye on progressDate night sounds an excellent way to spend the evening.
Dolphin, two out of three ain’t bad – well done on the lights out and walking. Hope you hit all targets today.
Honey, well done on the weight loss, I’m sure the chocolate blip will be OK by Monday.Date night sounds like a fab idea, Happy. It's all too easy to get caught up in the task of the moment and forget to stop and take in the view. I hope you both have a lovely time.
Thanks for all your comments about my exercises and walking. I have continued with my exercises but this morning was a half hearted effort due to the heat. I have come up with a couple more targets:
Flying: 15 minutes a day – shamelessly copied from Honey as it is very necessary if I am to gain control of the bunnies.
My feet, both my parents had arthritis and recently my feet have started to ache and I fear it could be the start of it for me, so I want to take better care of them. I recently read an article about foot care which also suggested some exercises so I’m going to give them a go.

Have a great Saturday night everyone.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday and enjoying the lovely sunny weather.
My targets for today:
Exercise – gave it a miss today as it’s Sunday! Not a total fail though as I put some cream on my feet and then had to wait for it to soak in so completed some neck and shoulder exercises.
Flying – got off to a flying start :rotfl:- completed an hour.
Feet – I found an article in a magazine that suggested you should exercise your toes by picking objects up – fail. The article had another exercise for your arches. You place your feet flat on the floor and without moving your legs or toes you lift your arch. I couldn’t do this either so I decided to give my feet a massage. Result; that old school report comment – must try harder!
Seasidegal, the article was from a hardcopy magazine and I cannot find it on the website. A couple of the exercises are above but I’ll copy the rest out for you and put it on your diary. I found just giving my feet a massage did make them feel better.0 -

Thank you Elnora - that would be very kind of you. Since I've upped the ante on the walking, my ankles are beginning to protest a bit!
Well done on the flying. The routines seem to fall into place once you get going with them. And I don't blame you for shunning the exercise today - it's sweltering out there! I'm leaving my walk till this evening when it's cooler!
Apart from ups and downs on the water front and some weird sleep patterns, the rest of my programme seems to be on track!
Hope all going well Happy, Honey and Dolphin. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
