Kelpie says can he have your dog's rainy walks? He doesn't care a jot about wet stuff.Better is good enough.0

Thanks for the support joeyjimbles and Honey Bear. Sorry that I haven't posted for the last few days but I feel like I have lost my motivation and have got myself in a CBA mood. I'm going to try and snap out of it today.
Anyway, update for the last three days...
1) To have 14 NCDs - Friday and Sunday were both NCDs (Saturday wasn't) so I am now on 3 NCDs for July.
2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - I didn't leave the house over the weekend at all so my weekly total was only 55,799 (daily average of 7,971). I will try harder this week. I just hope that the weather improves.
3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends (I am still struggling to nail this target) - Very late nights Friday and Saturday but managed to switch the light out at 11pm last night.
I really must do better all round this week!
Honey Bear, I'm glad Kelpie is showing some signs of improvement in his mood at least even if his walking hasn't improved much. Fingers and everything else crossed that the hydrotherapy helps.0 -

The great motivator for me was the fact that we were all Rah Rah Rahing each other on, even if our achievements were *cof* more in the intention than the achievement - and mostly without the dancing Rah Rahs, who I miss.
At the moment things are so frantically hectic here I don't seem to be able to make the time to sort out things I need to work on, much less work on them. I'm spending my time trying to keep up with what I absolutely have to do every day so that my tomorrows aren't a nightmare. As soon as I can get some semblance of order back into my life I'll be right back with you all, nibbling at Honey Bear's World of Chaos.

Yah for Friday and Sunday! (And I hope Saturday was worth it.)

One of the reasons I got a dog seven years ago was because I knew it would make me get out and about every day. Without him I'd be exactly the same as you, not stepping foot outside, except to put the bins out on Sunday night. Do you think all human beings are designed to conserve energy in case of a pre-historic crisis requiring us to run for our lives, which never materializes for us?

Lights out here by 10.30 last night I was so cream-crackered. It still works, though - I woke up at just gone six. I really mind when I feel so wound up that I have to read to calm myself down before I turn the light out, usually resulting in the light not getting switched off until around midnight, which results in me starting the next day late. Amazing, really, when you look back on the past 18 months or so, since Happy started these monthly challengey/targetty/goalie things - I think my first ambition was to turn the light out before 1.00 am!
I really must do better all round this week!
You are, just by being conscious of what you're working on, and posting here when you do.

We forget, Dolphin, just how much we've moved our lives on. It may still be a struggle, but we've all made significant changes in our lives because of this thread. The tendency is to focus on our 'failures' when we are genuinely working on changing things for the better. (It's very rare, for instance, that I don't use the electric toothbrush every day, in fact, I can't remember when I didn't, but it took about six months of me putting it on my list to make it work.)
Thanks for the kind Kelpie thoughts. He's getting more used to his restricted life, I have had a couple of helpful conversations with the vets, he losing weight and his first hydrotherapy appointment is next Wednesday. I'm really, really hoping that he enjoys it and it makes a huge difference to his quality of life. He didn't show any qualms about walking into the sea, which some of my other dogs have, so the pool shouldn't be a problem, and he's so people-orientated that I think he'll do whatever he can to please the vet nurse who runs the facility. (She used to work for the vet's practice I use, so I know how good she must be at her job.) All positives.
The current problem is that when he's happy, he bounces, which is the worst possible movement for his knees but, how wonderful that he's happy!Better is good enough.0 -
Completely agree with Honey about all the changes we've made, and I think we all get a bit blindsided with real life now and again, or just have those moments where we can't be bothered to keep on keeping on. There's a meme that I saw on Facebook a while back, I'm no avid user, that was a cat hiding it's face saying 'I can't adult today' - I know that feeling.
Job of Doom is finished-ish, it was a real pain this time made worse by developing a migraine on Sunday night that I still have the ghost of today. So whilst I know that I sent everything off with all the paperwork, I'm not entirely positive quite how many I sent off. I know that logically there were 8 missing as I couldn't buy them, or they didn't exist but each time I tried to add them up I got 3 different answers. I'll have another go to reconcile it this afternoon.
Apart from that I need to crack on with removing the stuff from the two soon-to-be-spare-rooms ready for a bit of redecorating. Hopefully they won't need more than touching up.
What a shame that bouncing is making things worse, doglet here likes to go on his back legs a lot and that worries me as he ages but he's always done it so I don't suppose there's much I can do about it.

Awww thank you Honey Bear and joeyjimbles, your support and wise words are very much appreciated. I admit that I have felt a bit down for the last few days (not helped by something OH said on Sunday which I blew all out of proportion
) but I have decided that I will snap out of it today and get back on track with my targets. It also helps that the sun is finally shining here this morning which automatically lifts my mood.
Update for yesterday...
1) To have 14 NCDs - I had an entire bar of chocolate yesterday to make myself feel better so no NCD and still on 3 NCDs for July. We have more visitors coming on Friday until Monday so I am going to be good for the next 3 days so that I can relax a little bit at the weekend.
2) To walk an average of 10,000 steps per day over each week (so 70,000 total for each week) - Just under 10,000 steps yesterday. Unfortunately an old injury has reared it's ugly head but I will do what I can manage over the next few days until it eases.
3) To put my light out by 11pm every night including weekends - Light out at 11pm.0 -

RAH RAH RAH to everyone, and it's lovely to see you all succeeding where I am failing! I would love give you an update on my targets, but I can barely remember what they are. Nuff said!
I have been awol because all my focus has been on Mr H and his unemployment. Decisions have been made. From a week on Monday, he will be self-employed/freelancing and - at least in the short-term - earning very, very little money. It will be more than JSA though and, if it isn't, then JSA will top it up for a while. I'm actually quite excited and I'm learning all about tax and NI and business accounts and other things that are nowhere near as boring as you'd think. He already has most of the equipment he needs from a lifetime of collecting, so worst case scenario is we're back to square one. Best case scenario - we become mega-rich:D
Loads of research has been done, loads more still to do, and we're confident it's the right decision. It turns out that conventional well-paying jobs in a manual environment are in pretty short supply for 59 year old men with arthritic knees and dicky shoulders, so needs must. Watch out for me on Dragon's Den
In other news - nothing. Which is good because there's only so much adrenaline one person can take.
Honey - lovely to hear Kelpie is adjusting yet still keeping just a bit of bounce just to prove he's still loving life. I had a friend who's dog had hydrotherapy and he loved it.
Joey - well done with the job of doom and hope the decorating goes well. Do you never rest?
Dolphin - Yay to four NCDs! Looks like your mood has lifted and I hope OH has done some serious sucking upLBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3320 -
Thanks Happy, I'm sure it sounds busier in summary than it really is - in fact I spent quite two hours this afternoon reading a book whilst waiting for a courier. I should have been doing more paperwork but as the stuff will not get there til Friday I felt I could wait until tomorrow.
Yay for Mr Happy becoming the next Sir Alan, fingers crossed it all works out and if nothing else it is doing something rather than waiting for something to happen so it can only be positive.
And yay for other things just being normal - sometimes normal is underrated.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Lovely to hear from you HappyNow! Hope everything works out with Mr HappyNow's self employment. It certainly sounds like it is worth a try, nothing ventured nothing gained and all that
