Wow Dolphin, you swot! Now you've just got to remember where you've put them when it's time to post
I'm grateful for your explanation about the chocolate plant Honey. It made me realise that I'm actually doing OK, because fermented grapes are also plant-based. Reassuring, thanks.
Yesterday's excuses:
Money. Had to buy new wellies because my beloved Muck Boots are leaking and it's REALLY not the weather for that. I got them for £15 from B & Q, which is a bit of a come-down from my £90 Muck Boots but I daresay I'll get used to having cold, uncomfy feet again. Next time I'm rich, I'm definitely having more Muck Boots.
Healthy eating. The lunch on my course was lovely and I was quite sensible. I stuck to just one piece of cake because I was sat next to a stranger and I didn't want to show what I'm capable of, cake-wise. Sadly they whipped the leftovers away before I had time to shove them in my handbag 'for the chickens'. Then I had pizza and wine for tea. And a mince pie, which is definitely mainly dried fruit.
Me. Nah. Still a scruff.
Things are changing a bit here today because Little Miss H is moving home for a while. She has broken up with her boyfriend - or rather he has broken up with her. She's very upset and it couldn't have come at a worse time for her with her teaching course in mid-flow. I will be cooking healthy, nutritious food to help keep her strong, but also incorporating a fitting amount of comfort junk.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. That is true.

Love it :rotfl:!

The time when you have money to spend on what you 'want' and not just what you 'need' will come again.

I'm sure the pizza had a bit of veg on.

Really sorry about Little Miss H. Is all hope lost with the boyfriend?1 -
Mrs Honey Bear, thank you for setting this target and inspiring me, all of my Christmas cards have been purchased and written and they are all ready to go :j.
It's amazing how much I used to look forward to Christmas and then find that things I thought I enjoyed became a chore because I left them until the last minute. I quite like writing cards if I don't have to squash it in, in a hurry, amongst a dozen other things I know I should have done already.Wow Dolphin, you swot! True, very true. This healthy eating and drinking lark's quite straightforward once you change your mindset, isn't it?

Was the Bay of E no help? Sometimes people buy expensive things and find they don't suit them for one reason or another. Can you save a search so that when exactly what you're looking for comes up you can see if you can get it for a snip? I once managed to get a pair of Not Your Daughter Jeans, brand new, still with all the sticky stuff and tags on for about £40.
Mind you, I'd put on a bit of weight and they looked terrible, so I kept meaning to list them and sell them myself, never got around to it, thought I'd donated them to charity and found them at the back of the wardrobe a few months ago. Now that I've lost over a stone they look fab!

I trust your handbag is large enough so that next time your large flock of chickens aren't deprived of bulk cake.

I'm in good company then. Hooves not trimmed or polished yet this month.

I'm sorry to hear she's had her heart broken by some worthless $h*t who isn't fit to lick her boots. I can remember very clearly how utterly devastating it was when relationships that mattered came to an untimely end. I sort of realised it was Miss Happy who was having realtionship struggles as soon as you splashed out on the Christmas tree crumpets, and I'd send her a virtual hug if your diary weren't such a well kept secret. The trouble is, we do have to kiss a lot of frogs before we find our prince.
Jolly good thing she's moving back in with you.Better is good enough.0 -
- No computer after 9.00 pm and light out by 11.30 pm; I think I've cracked the computer thing but a good book is hard to put down. Last night the excuse was, 'It's Friday.' Not reallly good enough, is it?
- 5 fruit and veg a day; Thank goodness for dried fruit.
- Keep a careful record of floury stuff eaten so that if I get a reaction I can work out what's making it happen; There's no doubt that raiding OH's biscuit tin doesn't suit me. And it's pizza tonight (think of all those lovely veg!) which is bad enough but OH very kindly made me a tuna sandwich when he made his to take to footie. Kind, but I'd run out of gf bread so it's gluten all the way today.
- Electric toothbrush once a day at least; I'm getting worse not better at this.
- Write all Christmas cards and do all the obvious Christmas shopping by 30 November so December is just the fun stuff. I'll do something towards this today now that Dolphin's proved it's quite straightforward once you put your mind to it.
- Clear the filing tray and the in tray by the end of the month. Because I've been feeling so much better I've been ignoring my desk for weeks and it's all bit chaotic. More slippage.

The most common symptom of coeliac disease is diarrhoea, caused by the body not being able to fully absorb nutrients (malabsorption).
Malabsorption can also lead to stools containing abnormally high levels of fat (steatorrhoea). This can make them foul smelling, greasy and frothy. They may also be difficult to flush down the toilet.
Other common symptoms include:
bloating or abdominal (stomach) pain
flatulence and a noisy stomach
weight loss
tiredness and fatigue, which may be a sign of iron deficiency anaemia or folate deficiency anaemia
tingling and numbness in your hands and feet (peripheral neuropathy)
vomiting (usually only affects children)
swelling of your hands, feet, arms and legs caused by a build-up of fluid (oedema)Sealed pot challenge 822

dawnybabes, what a very sensible idea to list all of the potential symptoms, thank you so much. Most people (including myself before I was diagnosed) don't realise the problems coeliac disease can cause. I have certainly experienced all of these except the last two although like I said they didn't all come on at once. Perhaps that's why it can sometimes take years to be diagnosed.
Thankfully, I believe that I was diagnosed relatively quickly because I happened to see a GP who specialised in the illness. Another symptom I remember well is the headaches but I suspect they were associated with the tiredness and fatigue. It really is an illness that makes you feel generally rubbish every day you are eating gluten.
Anyway, thank you again for providing the list.1 -

To be honest, I never really thought they would be together-forever, but I did think he was a bit more honourable than he turned out to be. Still, best to find out sooner rather than later, and from what I remember young hearts mend quickly. In the meantime Mr H and I are providing a warm, comfy den for wound-licking.

Update for yesterday:
Money: Did a bit of Christmas shopping, but the money was there within my YNAB. Loads more to do of course, and I must be careful not to bust my budget. Called at M & S while I was in town and wasted £4 - see below!!
Healthy eating: Four portions of F & V eaten, which is the best for a while. Unfortunately my favourite M & S cakes were on offer at two for £4. I did partake.

And another vote of thanks from me, Dawnybabes. Very concise and helpful list, that, and if I ever develop other symptoms from your list I'll take it very seriously.
I'm happy to report that I don't have a single symptom on that list apart from the tiredness and fatigue which can, apparently, be a sign that one is having too much gluten. I'm taking iron tablets already, just in case, to see if that helps, too. So, nothing sinister for me, other than sheer greediness and over-indulgence on a huge scale for years and years and years.
I'm not going to be precious about it, don't want all of my friends to have to put themselves out by going totally gf, and still love ordinary biscuits, cakes, pizzas and sandwiches so all I'm doing is finding out what suits me and how to eat more imaginatively. It's working, I'm pleaesd to say and I'm feeling much, much better as a direct result.Better is good enough.1 -
