I have no idea what causes my inertia but I promise you - it's very real. I wake up tired pretty much every day and have done so for years. Until I knocked the booze on the head I had something to blame it on but I honestly thought I'd be more energetic once I got through the early days. I don't and I'm really, really annoyed by that. Thinking about the dairy thing I'm wrong to exclude it because I do love cheese and have hardly any butter, so what I think I'll do is go over to goat's cheese, butter and yoghurt while OH is at the Edinburgh Festival and see if that changes my gears up a bit because it's eight days and no deprivation. That makes a lot more sense.

As to frying and freezing onions - I've done it for years! L!d1 sells 7.5 kg sacks for a couple of quid when they're in season so that's when I do it, although a couple of whoopsied bags of them manage to fall into my regular shopping the rest of the year when I'm running low.
    Better is good enough.

    • Money making/saving. The biggie is that I am educating myself on the new pension rules because this will affect our income from (hopefully) 2019/20 for the rest of our lives. My work pension is fine, but Mr H's are all old and inflexible and just won't do what we will need them to at retirement, so they will have to be changed. It is beyond complicated, and I have made a free initial appointment with an IFA for next Thursday, plus I am spending every spare minute on the MSE Pensions Board. Also, I have ordered a set of my favourite Olay products from Tesco Direct, where they were not only on offer at £9.99, but also available to pay for with double-up clubcard points! I should have ordered more, the offer has finished now :(. And I got my £1 Priority Moment Pizza and my free hot chocolate! Hats off to you on the pensions thing; I had to get help with mine and even then the most obvious thing that needed addressing wasn't suggested by the expert at all! My pension is a bit of a patchwork quilt because of my work history but the most important thing for me was doing exactly what you're doing - clearing debts, cutting out the unproductive expenditure, boosting income even by small amounts as long as they were regular and involved very little work on my part and realigning my expectations around what was realistic. Very gradual process, that last one. Turns out I don't need a megayacht.
    • Fridge/freezer meltdown Still working our way through the semi-defrosted freezer food. All still healthy so far!
    • Alcohol Umm. I bought another bottle of wine and opened it yesterday. It's not waste, it's investment. Pensions are hard. *hic*
    • Sleep Managed bed by 11 most nights and actually slept right through last night. Excellent news - if the wine helped to relax you, maybe occasionally if you've done something challenging you don't need to be quite so hard on yourself.

Needs must to post: I'm not advocating boozing wildly! :rotfl:

ETA: Afterthought - Ooooh, can I come to you for Boxing Day breakfast?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    1. Kelpie to come to call. He'd taken to ignoring the clicker after he realised I'd cut the treats out - he's now responding to it again. Good, his training will continue but he's not going off lead for the foreseeable future. I'm in two minds about posting this, but it's significant, so I will. The lovely, lovely Collie, part of the pair I tried to foster and had to give up almost immediately, has been hit by a car and killed. I'd been following her progress because even though I only had her for two days she stole a piece of my heart and I cannot imagine how devastated her previous owners and the fosterer must be feeling. I've no idea of the circumstances, I'm just terribly, terribly sad that it happened.
    2. Five fruit and veg a day. OH forgot the ripe avacodo last night, so I may have been a bit short there. The cheesecake is finished entirely thanks to my heroic, self-sacrificing efforts.
    3. Cut out all the swearing. Less sweary, but still having to consciously not do so. I found my self saying 'flipping' yesterday!
    4. [STRIKE]Cut out dairy for one day the first week then two days the second week and so on to see if it makes a difference[/STRIKE]. Go over to goat's cheese, butter and yoghurt for the time OH is in Edinburgh. Thought through and re-decided. That's progress.
    5. Lights out by 11.30pm. Fail. Again. Because I forgot. :o

Ooh, which moisturiser did you end up with?

One of the Simple range and it's SPF 30 too so will hopefully protect my skin from the sun. It was only £4.99 although I notice it is now only £2.49  but still not too expensive at all. I'll see how it goes. No bad reaction so far and my skin feels softer already.

    Cheesecake for breakfast anyone else?

This reminds me of one of our USA trips. We visited the cheesecake factory on two occasions for a meal and on both occasions after eating our main we were too full for cheesecake so both times we got some anyway and had it for breakfast the next morning :D It was flipping lovely.

Ha ha, just read this after putting 'flipping' in my post below.

      Seems sensible to me :).

The Cheesecake Factory is REAL???? I thought it was a Big Bang Theory made up place!! That's made my day, although I don't really know why because I doubt we'll ever get to go there, much as I really REALLY do love cheesecake. As Honey Bear would say 'Flipping Heck' :D

Hopefully it was a strawberry cheesecake to make up your five after the avocado was missed. If so, well done :D

Goats cheese, topped with demerara sugar and grilled, has got to be the best meal in the world. I ate a lot of that in Spain :)
