I'm making the assumption that it is still possible to feel perky at a whisker off 60, and I want to give the rest of my life my best shot, not keep dragging myself around.
I'm making that assumption too. And I do have a lot of perky moments, but also a fair number of 'OMG-I'm-just-too-knackered-to-function' moments too. Target change coming up!

    1. Kelpie to come to call. He was 'sold' as having good recall and following the usual instructions of sit, lie down, stay etc - none of which I could get him to do. Sounds like good sales patter from the RSPCA :D. Would you have still taken him if you'd known he wasn't 100% as said? 'Course you would! He's got the lovely personality and the rest will follow :)
    2. Five fruit and veg a day. Shoehorned this in by thowing a load of extra veg into the risotto last night and then having a fruity pudding. With cream. We all saw that you know.

It IS fab, served with a simple salad and that balsamic dressing thing that I have no idea how to make so buy at Marks & Spencer! Totally non-MSE but soooo worth it every now and then.

Is it okay to buy the dressing and work out the recipe from the ingredients list?

Last night we had friends round to eat, and one particular friend is a great fan of Gousto.co.uk. It's an internet company who post out all the ingredients for your pre-selected meals, then you cook it yourself at home following their instructions. Literally everything you need is in the box apart from salt, pepper and olive oil. On her recommendation I gave it a go and it was BRILLIANT! I would never use it at full price (£29.99 for four meals that you have to cook yourself? No thanks!!!) but with her referral code it only cost £9.99, which I thought was pretty good value for four people on a special occasion. Lots of food and very different and exciting, plus loads of fun all gathered round in the kitchen cooking it. We ate something called 'freekeh'! It's real food!

Would you get brownie points for passing on the code - hint, hint? Sometimes we treat ourselves to non-MSE things but one thing we've definitely noticed is that we eat out a lot less these days becasue we're both quite good at rustling up rather scrumptious food on the cheap. Well, cheaper than eating out, anyway. OH has decided that the C0-op's microwavable new potatoes in butter and parsley is much, much better than buying new potatoes and cooking them himself. It's only £1 and it makes him feel very profligate buying them!

£9.99 for a really interesting meal for four - bargain!
    Better is good enough.

    1. Kelpie to come to call. Apparently the 'cute' thing is fright, poor little scrap. I've gone back to just shutting the bedroom door for a few minutes when he goes on to the landing to do barking. That stops him - until the next time. You're absolutely right, Happy, nothing about his not following instructions would have stopped me adopting him! I'd just like him to be able to run about off the lead with other dogs, but the long line works fantastically well - until he wraps himself around other dogwalkers.
    2. Five fruit and veg a day. Back to making pulse burgers when I can be bothered to cook at all. I'm beginning to work out how the recipes are structured, so I can have a bit of an experiment myself.
    3. Cut out all the swearing. No progress. I must stop talking to myself.
    4. Switch to goat's cheese, yoghurt and butter for the eight days OH is in Edinburgh. Ooops, forgot about this, this morning.
    5. Lights out by 11.30pm. Achieved.
    6. No computer after 9.00pm. Ooops, was readng newspapers on line last night and I forgot about this. Must try harder.
    Better is good enough.

I have a code for half price hellofresh which I think is similar to Gousto - though maybe requires you to buy more than one meal at a time. I am going to give it another look as I agree that £9.99 for a lovely different meal as an occasional treat is good. Will report back.
Poorly dog here. He got clipped and managed to tear two of his nails whilst having a wee straight after it was done - vet removed them and he has a little sock and a bandage and is feeling very sorry for himself.

The Cheesecake Factory is REAL???? I thought it was a Big Bang Theory made up place!! That's made my day, although I don't really know why because I doubt we'll ever get to go there, much as I really REALLY do love cheesecake. As Honey Bear would say 'Flipping Heck' :D

Oh yes, it's real and it's amazing although I'm not sure I'll be able to eat there again now that I have to eat gluten free :(.

Have a great time, wherever you are :)

We were away at a family wedding and had a fantastic time. Thankfully, the weather was perfect and everything went really well.

Goats cheese, topped with demerara sugar and grilled, has got to be the best meal in the world.

Oooh, that's sounds lovely. Even though I'm not eating sugary things at the moment, I may just have to try that once.

Hope the S!mp1e range works for you Dolphin because it's very affordable and widely available which means it's usually on special offer somewhere so you can stock up.

It seems to be working fine with no bad reactions so far but I haven't managed to use it regularly over the last week as I just haven't had the time. I really need to get back on target today.

As a result, I'm under budget on groceries this month for the first time in forever.

Impressive! Although isn't it sad how good it makes you feel to save a few pounds on groceries :)!
