    1. I have an aquasorb and the weather, of course, is now dry so no need of it! The groomer has agreed to do the dog top to tail and given me a date in July with instructions about which bit of him to concentrate on in the meantime. The lovely, lovely woman has said she'll have him on his own for a whole afternoon so he doesn't need to be shut in a crate while she does another dog, rush him or do anything that would disturb him, and she's only charging me her normal rate. How kind is that?
    2. Nothing on insurance again. Oops x a lot.
    3. *Curses* I've finished the goat's cheese, so I've either got to freeze the blue cheese and the rest of the cheddar-type stuff or work my way through it. *rustles freezer bags, yawns, and puts off doing anything again*
    4. OH is away from later this afternoon and I am so looking forward to being able to switch the light out by 9.30! I feel old I'm so tired. Its the dog's fault, I realise. I'm whizzing about on the Hoe after him several times a day and it's exhausting. He is a lot calmer than he was, so within another week or so I'll still be doing the same amount of exercise but at a less frantic pace when he realises there will always be another walk.
    5. The floors need doing and I can't be arrised.
    Better is good enough.

Joey, are you going to join us?

I hope so, if you'll have me. I'm quite house trained.
I'm in a state of flux at the moment; in almost all areas of my life, and I'm trying to work out what I want to do as well as accommodate all the things that I want/have to do for others. Hopefully my vagueness doesn't make that sound intriguing and mysterious as it really isn't. Some little debts to shift, a lot of 'stuff' being Kondo-ed ranging from the physical to the mental and all points in between, children moving onto new stages of their lives and a significant birthday on the horizon - I've decided to view it as an opportunity, but finding it all a bit challenging so am going with the one foot in front of the other principle at the moment.

Is your son still at the 'hollow legs' stage, Happy? I love the idea of hiding food in the wardrobe just to make sure you and Mr Happy can eat three squares a day!

Drop and give me 10 press ups! Now! (Oh the power!)

Well done on the sit-ups, about time too ;)!
Thanks :). I did them yesterday too. Trouble is, the last 20 years of NOT doing them is going to take a bit of reversing:o

So I confess, we have been trying to cut out the rubbish, i.e. chocolate, sweets, biscuits and cakes, since the middle of March hence why I have them in my targets. It does seem to be slowly working as I have lost 9lbs and OH has lost 11lbs in this time. We both have a lot to lose though. I actually don't seem to miss the chocolate, sweets and biscuits anymore but I still miss cake. I can see the benefits though so I must stick with it.
9lb in two months is brilliant and 'they' do say that slow, steady loss is more likely to be permanent, so well done you :). Have you a target in mind, or just until you feel the way you want to feel?

    1) No sweets or biscuits but I had a Snickers bar which is ridiculous as I'm not even keen on them. I think it was because I have been feeling rubbish for the last few days with the cold so I was looking for a treat to make me feel better and I couldn't get my hands on some cake.
    2) No cake.
    3) Light off at 11.20pm so a bit late.
    4) No meal planning necessary as already done for the week, homemade chilli and rice tonight.
    5) No spends on other people.
I'm not keen on Snickers either (chocolate and nuts shouldn't mix in my opinion, although as you like M & M's you probably don't agree!) but they are quite filling - like Mars Bars - so hopefully it did its job. Once you've got where you want to be weight-wise I daresay you will be able to re-introduce a bit of cake. Doh - I'm thinking about M & S chocolate cake now :(

Yay! It'll be lovely to have you around joey. Your state of flux DOES sound intriguing, whatever you say! Feel free to sound off/think out loud/ask for opinions or (if you prefer) just get on with it quietly in the background while doing a few sit-ups or not eating rubbish :D
Got to disappear now 'cos I'm supposed to be working but I will be back shortly

Nigel Slater. I have googled him and picked a couple of recipes that I am going to make this weekend, tomorrow being payday and all. So, Saturday will be Baked Eggs and Vegetables and Sunday Baked Dahl and Sweet Potato. They're both cheap and nutritious and I already have loads of the ingredients. And they both sound one million times more appealing than crab claws (I'm sure there used to be a vomit smilie on here :D)! I will report back.

I've also been considering one of those doormats that are supposed to be miraculous at soaking up water and mud after walks. Don't suppose you've tried one? They're a bit dear if they don't work.

Oh it's not just his legs that are hollow, it's all of him. He eats as much as me and Mr H put together but still stays slim and fit. And he's still messy and dirty and takes up too much room - not much to recommend him really :D. He's just started a new, better paid, job this week and I'm torn; should I increase his board to actually cover his food bill, or should I keep low so he can save up for his own place?! :rotfl:

The joy of Happy's idea is that rather than thinking one should give oneself a complete MOT each month, and the house another complete MOT at the same time, all I'm doing is tackling the most obvious problem areas. I'm not doing anything too drastic, but introducing a slight element of self-discipline on various tiny aspects of my life to see if small changes make big improvements and it turns out - they do! The most significant one for me is that deciding to turn the light out before midnight has been transformative, and I only thought of it because Happy had worked out how much sleep she needed a night back in February - not that she made the target that often! (Drop and give me 10, Happy, we're talking about you not to you. And I noticed the Happy-shaped dent in the sofa yesterday, by the way.)

I think B00t$ the chemist had a sales drive years ago that went something like 'Change one thing' around new year and I realised then that the reason I fail on all my new years resolutions was because I expect too much of myself all at once. Doing Happy's Challenge with shifting goals each month works for me, and I hadn't kept a single NY's resolution for years.
    Better is good enough.

You're Wah quotey thing is affecting my quotes now so we're both bu**ered.

When you find the vomitting smilie I want to see it! I knew you were a veggie but I didn't realised that extended to fish-type things as well. Soz.

It's raining! The dog got very soggy during the first walk this morning and has now had the a'sorb treatment - it's marvellous and he absolutely loved it! So much easier to manage than a towel. I've rinsed it through with a bit of washing up liquid, squeezed it out and put it back in the tube thing - is that the right way to deal with it?

I haven't tried those door mats. Our front door wasn't designed for carpet and a door mat so the skimmage (new word, meaning relatively clear I think) is low so there's no chance of fitting one in this house, although, come to think of it, the back door might be approrpiate. Hmm.

When I can't decide whether something's worth the money I read the reviews on Am@z0n starting with the bad ones to see if there are consistent problems that people mention. It's cheaper and more convenient than Which? which I use at the library for more expensive stuff.

Linky for new dog. (First time I've ever uploaded anything to You Tube, and I actually did it because it's easier than trying to email Bath Cats and Dogs Home to show them how he's getting on. I am working my way into the late 20th century, very, very slowly.)
    Better is good enough.

Wow, where did that flurry of posts come from, I only turned round for 5 minutes :).

HappyNow, I haven't got a weight loss target in mind, I just want to lose what I can and hopefully improve my fitness in the process as it becomes easier to do more walking which is the only exercise that I actually enjoy.

Honey Bear, I agree, Happy's idea does help you to decide what few small things you want to focus on changing rather than trying to do too much at once. Also, as the targets are only set for a month at a time, they seem more achievable. The You Tube video of Kelpie is so cute by the way.

Ok, yesterday (day 9) went much better as the cold is finally starting to tail off (although now OH has it and of course it's mutated into something much worse now he has it :rotfl:)

    1) No chocolate, sweets or biscuits
    2) No cake.
    3) Light off at 10.30pm as I had sleep to catch up on.
    4) No meal planning necessary as already done for the week but will need to start thinking about next weeks over next couple of days.
    5) No spends on other people.

Very successful day and we have both lost another 2lbs in the last week so very chuffed :j. Trying not to focus too much on the scales though and more on how we feel.

    1. Yesterday's minutes were spent brushing his tail and back leg feathers and being restrained on the back seat of the car so he's legal while we zoom about. He passed with flying colours on all fronts. Yay!
    2. Nothing on insurance again. (Oops x a lot more.) I see there's a mention of rising pet insurance costs in the newsletter today but I can't say I'm surprised.
    3. *rustles freezer bags, yawns, and puts off doing anything again*
    4. Lights out by 9.30 last night and I slept right through until 6.15. I need a few more of those.
    5. The floors need doing and I can't be arrised. They still need doing and now I've got a listy for today on top of them. <yawn>
