Thank you for all of the kind thoughts. People being kind really helps, to a surprising degree.

    1. NSD.
    2. Still haven't updated the SS.
    3. AF. Settled for three BBs while I was cooking and we ate supper.
    4. Porridge, tuna sandwhich, fish pie.
    5. Sultanas, beetroot juice, dried apricots, dried peaches, peas, roast parsnips, asparagus.
    6. Four mugs of fruit tea.
    7. We're still finding Mrs Dog's stuff, although we thought we'd got it all squared away yesterday. I only remembered this evening that I put non-slip stuff on a small flight of wooden steps a few months ago because she was having trouble with them. We're so used to it all, I suppose. Three loads of her stuff through the WM and out on the line overnight to finish blowing.
    8. On my way to bed. I might go and do those steps first, though
    9. Too much Spider. I can't focus my mind or concentrate - I've left the keys in the front door twice today, both times when I went out to feed the birds I used to feed on dogwalks - a pair of blackbirds, a pair of robins and a pair of wagtails.
    Better is good enough.

    1. NSD.
    2. SS up to date.
    3. AF.
    4. Toast, goat's cheese, tomato and pesto sandwich, fish and chips. I had a hobnob-fest during the afternoon, although obviously I shouldn't have, and felt rejuvenated by it and finally got on and did something that I should have been able to do yesterday. The sugar gave me the energy I needed, and I hadn't really appreciated that the lack of it when feeling really sad might be quite bad for me; I thought it would be just self-indulgent to give in to it. It got me outside as well to feed the birds and there were loads of blackbirds waiting for me, as well as the robins. Lovely.
    5. Beetroot juice, tomatoes, peas, mushrooms.
    6. Five mugs of fruit tea.
    7. I don't know how long I spent on it, but I scrubbed something that I don't think has been cleaned for over 20 years. It still needs a bit more attention. Laundry hokey-cokey.
    8. It's Friday. Late to bed.
    9. Waaaaaaay too much Spider.
    Better is good enough.

    1. Planned expenditure, as in most of it was on the shopping list, and we needed treats anyway.
    2. SS not yet up to date.
    3. AF.
    4. Bacon sandwich (I totally get Mr KUA's sneaky sarnies), smoked mackerel dip and pretzels, Pizza
    5. Beetroot juice, tomatoes, green leaves, mushrooms, onion.
    6. Three mugs of fruit tea.
    7. No flying other than laundry drying hokey-cokey.
    8. In bed by 11.00pm, but on here, so not all good.
    9. No Spider. Progress of sorts, I think.

Missing your posts, Keeping. How are you doing? Are you thinking of carrying on in March, or having spill-over days for the days you didn't fulfil your criteria in February? Or just letting it go?
    Better is good enough.

There was a Radio 4 programme a while ago where they discussed an experiment undertaken by some university. Two groups of people were each given a drink of fizzy pop - one group had normal 'sugary' pop, the other group had sugar-free, but they were not told that the drinks were different. Then they were all asked to look at a steep hill with a view to climbing it. The group who drank real sugar estimated the hill to be less steep than the sugar-free group, and the sugary group also perceived their chances of climbing it easily to be much higher. You needed that sugar :).

Hope some of the rawness of losing Mrs Dog is starting to fade. Reading back, you have definitely kept yourself busy.

So, Fab Feb is over. I feel loads better for it and I am now embarking on March Magic! Honey Bear (and anyone else who might be interested) it would be lovely if you joined me, but no pressure if you fancy a more relaxing month.

It's 2:45 so off to bed (again) for me now, but I will be back tomorrow with a better update :)

... skids in late to join Mrs Happy Now for her Magic March. Rather unfortunately I can't remember just how naughty I was yesterday or the day before.

    It starts today!

*Booming headmaster voice* 'Late again, Bearrr' :D

Mine pretty much starts today, too. I have had a couple of wild days and nights although wild by my standards involves a bar of Galaxy, two large slices of cheesecake, two Refresher bars and half a bottle of red wine, so nothing too outrageous. I have re-thunk my goals a bit, partly because some were too easy, but also because a couple of them were too hard. My Magic March involves:
    • No money to be wasted
    • Alcohol to be zero or a max of one 18.75ml bottle weekly (as a Saturday treat while watching The Voice)
    • Five portions of fruit and veg per day
    • Four glasses of water daily
    • Healthy diet with a max of one daily sweet treat
    • House to be made presentable each day (turns out I'm a rubbish flyer)
    • Not to waste too much time on Words With Friends (this has taken over from Candy Crush as my new obsession!)
Fab Feb was easier than I expected really and I do feel much happier and healthier for it. I found it easiest to focus on eating and drinking the required stuff, and it actually doesn't leave much time/appetite for junk food and alcohol. Although I did ask Mr H to pick up a box of tea bags on his way home from work yesterday. He came back with the tea bags, a bar of Galaxy, a lemon cheesecake and some Odour Eaters - and a receipt for £10.31 :( . By 8pm I had eaten everything except the Odour Eaters and Mr H has had yet another official warning!

So back on the straight and narrow today and I have spent the morning finding the cheapest car insurance quotes as ours both run out on 21st. So far £380 is looking about the best and I have been saving up via YNAB to pay it as one lump sum. Go me :D.

Thanks Aaleigha, she's looking forward to this year's birthday because last year's was so rubbish (her 21st too). She spent it either lying down or in a wheelchair, then topped it all off by falling down the stairs and getting two black eyes and a burst nose!! This year's has GOT to be better than that :D .

You are welcome to join in here with Magic March if you think it might help - just set your own goals and try your best! Anything is a bonus if it's more than you would do normally and having to write it down/confess each day focusses the mind :) My weakness is sugary foods and chocolate but I'm trying to keep a lid on it!

    'Sorry Mr.' *touches forelock*

Your description of a wild days and nights sound like a normal one to me, although I'd have probably started thinking about snacking on the odour eaters after finishing all the rest of the food, and glugging down more than half a bottle of red in the olden days.

Okay, new regime - I'm basing mine on yours, but editing it slightly to suit.
    • 15 NSDs in March
    • Zero alcohol - such a cheat this but I have to know there's one I fully intend to manage!
    • Five fruit and veg a day
    • Four mugs of fruit tea a day
    • No sugary stuff for Lent
    • One Flying task a day minimum
    • Spend a maximum of 45 minutes a day hunting the internet for another dog
    • Spend eight hours each week focussed on new business
    • Minimal spider.
So, today went a bit like this:
    • 15 NSDs in March - today was not one of them. Current tally - 2. Tomorrow probably won't be either.
    • No booze.
    • Sultanas, parsnips, apricots, onion, sweet potato, courgette
    • Four fruit teas
    • Tick
    • Cleared the landing
    • Around about 45 minutes, slightly less obsessively than previous days
    • About an hour on new business planning
    • Spidery thinking bore some fruit.
I found that tallying daily in February meant that I was conscious when things were slipping - there was a lot of extra fruit tea slurping, apricot scoffing and planning of sugar-free snacks than there would have been if I hadn't been doing Fab Feb. As a way of creating new habitual thinking this seems to work for me, so thanks for letting me sign up, Happy.
