Dell D600 wireless connection

HI

just reinstalled win xp on dell d600, I have tried the fn F2 buttons but it keeps saying wireless is unavailable, but picks up wireless routers in the area

I am guessing for some reason the wireless is not connected, but prior to installing win xp again, it was working.

does anyone have any pointers, and there are no conflicts in device manager

Many thanks

  • You need to install the correct drivers. Is it disabled in the BIOS?

Hi yes enabled in bios, but the bluetooth is not enabled, but that wouldn't affect it would it?

also uninstalled the wireless card and rebooted and it found the same one again, and installed the drivers....

    Im totally puzzled

oh and it says when I click on the adapter icon in the task bar

    SSID:
    status: not assigned
    signal quality/strength 0% out of range 0%

does that mean anything to anyone?

    thanks

if your card, service pack (which is why I mentioned sp2), and router supports wpa-psk/tkip, it's preferable and less problematic to use that instead of wep
